Got a groupon and ordered the shrimp salad sandwich. SUPER delicious but took them like 15 minutes to make. My two friends got theirs and mine came much later. Overall, great place but a bit overpriced. My meal ended up being about $9 just for the sandwich

The Winners Are:. The signature dishes (most popular) include the SUPER DOUBLE Corned Beef special and Mikey’s SPECIAL (Smoked Turkey, Muenster Cheese, lettuce, tomato, sweet peppers, oil & vinegar on French bread). All the salads are made in the store and are fresh every morning. I especially like Mom’s Potato Salad. Big breakfast items are reported to be the Corned Beef hash and eggs and the New Yorker Egg Sandwich. I happened to meet Bernie who told me that he cures his own Cornbeef and Pastrami which hardle anyone does any more. He was very reluctant to allow me to take pictures as he is afraid that someone might steal his process. Maybe on my next visit I can coax him into letting me take some pictures of his side dish display case and soup area – will see.23 Dec, 2011Regular Hot Pastrami Special. Served with 1/4 dill pickle. Lean Pastrami (cured for 5 days) served on seeded rye along with Swiss, sauerkraut and mustard. Moist, fresh and tasty. Sampling of Mom’s Potato Salad (great), Cole Slaw (sweet thin dressing) and Chili (very thick tomato based with kidney beans and ground beef so-so)

Good sandwiches but small. Grade: B-Just paid another visit here and had to knock the grade down. Ordered two sandwiches, both were very small for the price. A similar sandwich at other delis would be twice as large.–Bernie’s gives a great option for traditional deli sandwiches. Their sandwich roll – in which my wife got German bologna, Italian salami, onion, and mustard – was soft, not too chewy, and slightly sweet. Perfect. My turkey, choped liver, cole slaw, and Russian dressing on Jewish rye was delicious. Bernie’s carrot cake was very, very good – moist and not too sweet. Very glad we tried this deli!

Hidden gem just off the GMU campus in fairfax. Doesn’t look too great on the outside, but the inside brings a nice atmosphere and great food. Bernie is a really nice guy, menu has plenty of variety- sandwiches both hot and cold. Even a large selection of drinks, alcohol too. It won’t disappoint. I recommend the triple BLT and beer can chicken
