**DISCLAIMER**I haven’t tasted the food, so this is only about my experience interacting with staff and understanding how they treat customers. The restaurant does not offer a cost-effective option for individuals on a low carb diet, such as diabetics or those on the paleo or keto diet.I was ordering the curry goat. I asked whether it would be possible to substitute the rice with steamed veggies.I was told I can only get what is on the menu.So to get what I wanted. I would have had to do the following:- Buy an order of steamed veggies under the vegetarian section- Buy an order of curry goat under the entrees section.- Thow away the rice that comes with the curry goatSeemed to be a waste of money (and food). Many of the larger Caribbean places, such as Golden Crust, would have easily done this to make a new customer happy. They won’t get a dime from me or anyone I know. Bad news spread very quickly these days. Good luck.
the food is amazing and cheap!!! Oxtails and jerk chicken are my favorite and so delicious. It’s more of a to-go place. The seating arrangement is not too appealing.
This place is the absolute truth. Right amount of meat & gravy on the rice. Plantains cooked great. Made me feel like I was back in the Bronx. Will defiantly come back.
Holy moly! this place is a hidden gem. The flavor of the food will knock you out. Jerk chicken was worth its weight in gold. Been back once and had same fantastic taste. it’s a hole in the wall but food is spectacular.
A wonderful surprise. I went here with some of my friends from my hospitality class after we were given a recommendation from my professor. I had the Jamaican Curry Chicken it was spiced perfectly and all the flavors melded together wonderfully. The food was accompanied with rice, peas, vegetables and two slices of fried plantains! The chicken was so tender it fell off the bone as you touched it with the fork. The best part, it was under $7! We also had some Coco Bread, which was hot, soft, doughy, and steamy and tasted like it was freshly baked. The Jamaican Beef Patties were delicious; the stuffing was slightly spicy with crispy flaky dough. Also, my friends enjoyed their food; they had Curry goat, Ox-Tail, and the brown Stew Chicken. It is a Hole in the Wall type restaurant. They only have a few tables for people to dine in at. The staff was wonderful to be around; after I had started to talk to the owner/ cook of the restaurant about my own passion of cooking he let us try some hot wings that he had made. (They are not even on the menu!). They had the right amount of crispiness, and heat to them. This restaurant really surprised me, and I cant wait to go back.
Good food happy staff. Went there by the suggestion of my hospitality management professor. and i’m glad i did. the restaurant was hidden in a little corner with a small parking lot, there was no sign of the restaurant in the main street but we managed to find it. The dining room was small with three tables and a big jamaican flag in the middle of it, i ordered the chicken jerk while my cousin ordered an oxtail dish we enjoyed our meal on the rhythm of Bob Marley’s songs.and the chef/owner was very helpful and in good mood all the time we were there. Over all it was a great experience and i will go back soon.
Had the brown stew fish. Very good. Reminded me of my favorite Miami eateries. If you get the fish ask for extra onions and peppers if you like lots of flavor. Rice and peas are also excellent
