After such high review we tried this place. Everything was mediocre at best. I could tell the bread was not fresh baked. My fiance had the linguini with meatballs, the sauce tasted like chef boyardee and the meatballs were just ok. I had the shrimp and scallops on linguini with a white wine sauce, 3 rubbery shrimp and 3 scallops came with a sauce that reminded me of chicken flavored Ramen noodles. Needless to say we won’t be going back.
Authentic Italian Sauces & Pasta. I have eaten here numerous times and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. The steamed mussels with red sauce are outstanding and I often get the Caprese Salad to start. Other favorites include the Eggplant Parmigiana and the Chicken Campesino. My husband and I usually get the special for the evening, and that has included beautifully prepared salmon, spinach ravioli, homemade gnocchi and chicken/spinach cannelloni. We generally select the house Chianti, which is excellent, and find that the bill at the end of the evening is more than reasonable. We prefer to sit outside on the patio which is pleasant even when it’s warm outside. Two thumbs up!
Great Italian in the heart of Fairfax. Casa Italia is a huge improvement over its predecessors in that space. The interior has been renovated and boasts white tablecloths and elegant outdoor seating. The menu is packed with traditional Italian fare, including excellent veal dishes, and homemade pastas. The house chianti is outstanding and reasonably priced, and the wine list is extensive enough to please the most discerning of wine snobs. The homemade desserts are outstanding, including the tiramisu and cannoli. Try the shrimp fra diavolo if you like a perfectly spicy marinara and fresh grilled shrimp.
Casa Italia is a very good restaurant. The food is . The portions are big for a great price. This is a must go.
