I came here for lunch on a Friday with 7 other colleagues and was disappointed by the service (slow) and the food. There is little ambiance in the house itself, like a quiet tomb, and they were out of so many things I couldn’t believe it! The duck sliders were dry, my French dip sandwich was flavorless. The crab cakes were quite delicious I’ll give them that, and there seemed to be an extensive section of gluten free food, but at the end of the day only half of us were satisfied with our food and no one was raving about it. I wouldn’t return.
Worst service ever!!. Had lunch here today on the porch. There were only 4 other occupied tables. Our server took our drink orders, then returned about 5 minutes later to ask us again what we had ordered. After another 3 or 4 mins, she brought my drink and my friend a pot of water that wasn’t very hot but did not bring her any tea bags. Finally she got a teabag and when she poured her tea, there was a hair in it. She got someone to replace all of that. Our meal order still had not been taken. It took forever to get our food. They did not fix the burger that my friend ordered, my turkey sandwich had not mayo or anything on it and was missing the cheese. My friend sent hers back, but I was ready to give up by then. I ate the dry filling of the sandwich, but the GF bread that I paid $2 extra for, was wet and fell apart so I left that. No one ever came by to see how things were and by that time there was only 1 other occupied table. How does this place stay in business. This was my second time to eat there and I had just as many problems the first time 2 years ago. I don’t know why I went back, but I won’t make that mistake again.The owner did remove the drinks from our bill because of the hair, I guess. We didn’t ask for any consideration. The waitress should be fired. They weren’t busy so I think she is not server material for sure.
Ms.D. Lots of gluten free choices with a separate kitchen, homemade gluten free bread, pasta dishes, Dessert! What more could there be!

Good parking off Ox Road. Olde time country home interior well preserve. No wait. Service excellent. Had salad… fresh & at room temperture. Chicken rice soup… fabulous. S.C. shrimp & specialty grits patty, the best I’ve had in 68 years. Merlot excellent. Run don’t walk to this wonderful experience
Excellent. What a treat to find a restaurant in Fairfax City willing to accommodate customers with Celiac Disease. Food was excellent as was the service. The owner-chef, Shawn was a delight and is open to feedback. I plan to be a frequent repeat diner.
Awesome restaruant. I was totally wowed today by the extensive gluten free choices offered on the menu. Also included are dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan items. Gluten free choices include gluten free sandwiches on gluten free bread, an assortment of gluten free appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts! Thank you, thank you!
A reason to eat in old town Fairfax. Choices by Shawn is all about choice, you can get steak and potatoes or gluten free meals and desserts, vegetarian, vegan, dairy free. and all wonderfully made in a historic house on Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax. Tea is also served on Tues. – Thurs. afternoons — your choice of dessert, sandwich or the whole afternoon tea spread. I’ve known Choices by Shawn’s baking for several years, I am glad the restaurant finally exists!
