Dolce Vita Cucina Italiana is just along the Fairfax Blvd serving authentic Italian food in the town. Fusion of wine bar with traditional Italian food sticks out. I went for a dinner. The mushroom and sausage polenta was too salty. I am giving them one less star this time and hope this doesn’t happen again.

The area around Dulce Vita is a bit Seedy, But it appears to be the norm for Fairfax. I stayed within walking distance and was a bit hesitant until I walked in the door. It is bustling as one reviewer noted, but for a reason. It’s not a quiet romantic date spot, but it’s all those things except quiet. I couldn’t decide between one of the seafood pastas and pizza until I found the Via Mare. It’s a pizza with all the seafood you can imagine from calamari to shrimp. It was amazing. The aneighboring table either noticed my pizza, or my obvious delight and commented on the awesomeness of my meal. The pizza was so loaded that it couldn’t be picked up. I ate most of it with a fork and cherry-picked the seafood when I was too stuffed to continue. If I ever end up in Fairfax again, I’ll be eating here!
I’ve now eaten here 3 times and it was excellent every time. At home and when traveling Italain is my favorite cuisine so I eat in a lot of Italian restaurants. For a moderate priced place this is one of the best.
Absolutely LOVE this place! Best margherita pizza I have ever tasted, hands down. Highly recommend.
Poor attention to customers. Grade: Incomplete (a tentative F)Dolce Vita is a small restaurant, one that has unfortunately chosen the Manhattan approach to getting as many tables in as possible. When we were greeted, we saw this and asked for a table that had some degree of privacy. Those that had even a semblance of it were set for four and they wouldn’t let us sit there. Instead, we were seated at one of the many tables for two that were lined up against the wall – exactly what we didn’t want. Within minutes several other couples were seated, coming right up next to us. Not a one was seated in the open tables behind us.Sorry, folks. When I want to go out to a nice dinner on a Saturday evening, I’d like a little more than 1 1/2 feet of distance between me and the diner to my side. Maybe the food here is good. I’ll never know. If those running the business can’t even pay heed to a simple request, they won’t get my money.
