Sub par at best. Server was terrible, had to ask for ozzie rolls midway, arties pale ale tasted skunked, crabcake sandwich was soggy, just overall meh. That was first and last visit.
Superb. Grade: A-Artie’s succeeds even better than the other outstanding establishments in the Great American Restaurant chain. Everything here was done right. From the boat club decor to an extremely knowledgable and helpful waiter to creative, well-prepared food, Artie’s is on target in everything it does.Ordering an appetizer was one of the smartest things we did that day. The excellent crab fritters were made incredible by the ginger lobster sauce. Grouper, done as a special with a Mediterranean pasta setup that included orzo, olives, goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, shallots, and garlic presented an evolving palette of flavors that was really exciting. An ample serviing of perfectly-cooked pecan crusted trout with lemon butter sauce made for one of the best lunches I can remember. After several unsuccessful attempts to dine here, I’m now glad that we finally hit a day and time when there was no line. If you can make it here, even if there is a line, the meal awaiting you will be well worth it.
Favorite of the Great American Restaurants!. Since starting with Fritzbe’s, now Silverado in 1974, Great American Restaurants, which is comprised of 1) Artie’s, 2) Best Buns Bread Company, 3) Carlyle Grand Cafe, 4) Coastal Flats, 5) Jackson’s Mighty Fine Food & Lucky Lounge, 6) Mike’s American Grill, 7) Ozzie’s Corner Italian, 8) Silverado, and 9) Sweetwater Tavern, have been serving up some of the best eats, satisfying service, incredible All-American variety, and great experiences from spirits, starters, meals and desserts. This is not by any means a commercial, but a patron’s tribute to what has become 9 fantastic Northern Virginia dining destinations – an achievement few local restaurant chains can brag about. I am sure you’ll find something to your liking at any of their locations as I have, and urge you to contribute to this guide. Bon apptit!
Unique tastes in spite of the standard American staples served. I had a dinner salad & was impressed.

Fantastic restaurant. We had some locals tell us about this place. Our friends told us pretty much every entree was great, and they were right. The food was exceptional. The service was excellent as well. Probably the best restaurant we have been to in awhile.
Allergy Friendly. I was recently diagnosed with copious food allergies (gluten, dairy, peanut, egg, etc, etc), but have always loved Artie’s and didn’t want to have to give up going there. While they do not have an allergen menu online, I sent an email inquiry from their website asking about the possibilities, just before the Friday lunch rush. I was expecting a form letter back from them. Instead, less than 2 hours later I received a call from their manager to talk about what my options were. Seriously impressed with the customer service, and restaurant that has always been enjoyable just skyrocketed into a favorite.
