Good Food & Wine, Bad Waitress. The food and the international wine options were very good. The ambiance was very nice, they had some relaxing jazzy music playing. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. Regarding the food, we tried the asparagus soup. It was very flavorful and well prepared. Then the sausage over linguini pasta with pesto and sundried tomatoes cream sauce was delicious. The Chef knows what hes doing! The French style chicken with pepper sauce accompanied by artichokes, spinach and roasted potatoes was juicy and very well prepared. In general the food was really good. If anything, we would have preferred all the dishes to have a little less salt. Not that they were salty, but its just a matter of preference, we usually dont eat so much salt. The French wine we chose was good.Regarding the service, we went at lunch time on a Saturday and we were the only 2 customers until another couple showed up. There was only one waitress working. She was somehow polite, but not welcoming at all. She sat us immediately, without a greeting or a welcome. Then she continuously served my husband first, which I found a little rude since Im used to the ladies first common rule when we go to nice restaurants. Then she never once came by during our meal to ask how we were doing, if we wanted more wine, or anything. She came and took away my husbands dish (he was done) and then she started taking mine, but I was not done! I told her so, so she left it. I dont understand why she was in a hurry since the place was almost empty. Also, as a professional waitress, she should ask if shes not sure if a customer is done eating or not. Furthermore, my fork and knife were clearly still being used, and not placed parallel, but she was not paying attention. At the end she brought the bill and just placed it on the table without saying anything. She took our payment, brought us back our change, we left the standard tip, and she just took it without saying a word. She never thanked us or invited us back. We found her rude. Fortunately, weve been there other times and we know that there are other waiters that are the opposite of this one, very professional and nice. Otherwise, we wouldnt be going back!We do recommend this restaurant. Hopefully, you do not get this waitress!
Great wine selection. Mediocre food.
Great Neighborhood Bistro. I am a wine enthusiast and I like to eat. I’ve been going to The Wine House since they first opened. In fact my wife and I go almost every week. The thing that we like about The Wine House is that it is a wine shop where we can eat and not just a little serving of cheese, sausage and crackers, but a plate of food to go with our wine. Their wine selection is great and the prices reasonable. I am particularly fond of their Spanish selection where I can always find a great wine. As an eatery, it is a fun place to go. The food is good, the people are friendly and the ambiance is welcoming. What we mostly like is being able to pick a bottle off the wall and then pair it with a meal. We are hardly every disappointed. There is a $10 corkage fee, but that is not bad, considering most restaurants normally mark up their wines anywhere from 150 to 300%. For those of you who don’t like the corkage fee, feel free to go somewhere else and pay the markup!
$10 Cork Fee! Really?!. The atmosphere is cute. At first the service was good, then went downhill as it got busier. It’s pricey and the portions are not that large. What irked me is the $10 cork fee for each bottle of wine they open. Price gouging and nickel and diming customers at its worst. We won’t be back.
Had a great lunch at the outdoor patio. Awesome glass of malbec! Stop in for lunch. You won’t be disappointed!
