Hipster restaurant meets a Deli. This restaurant is part of a chain but a modern chain so it doesn’t yet suffer from the world of canned decor and canned menu offerings. However the decor is modern hipster with 55 gallon drums as light fixtures, corrugated metal room dividers and table tops of reclaimed wood that feature a sizable gap between each half that serves as a cup holder (or spiller). The dining room is fairly small but we were able to secure several tables to accommodate our large party. The dining room is self-service – order at the counter and pick up your meal as it is prepared. This can create some problems when the restaurant is busy but it wasn’t an issue during our visit. I ordered the small Packer Avenue sandwich and a cup of Parmesan Sausage Kale soup. The food was ready almost immediately which was nice. The sandwich is a bit on the small side – for anything more than a snack, order the large. With a cup of soup, the small sandwich is a good meal but not a large one. The Packer Avenue sandwich is quite tasty – the pork loin is thinly sliced and very tender. The garlicy spinach added nice flavor but was, as is always an issue with spinach, watery. The provolone sadly adds nothing to the sandwich. The Parmesan Sausage Kale soup is a standout!!! It’s only available in one size – small although it’s $1 less if ordered with a sandwich or salad. The flavor is excellent – hearty sausage and Parmesan flavors in a creamy soup. The next time I visit, I may well just order 2 portions of soup and skip the sandwiches!!Overall, a nice chain restaurant focused on modern cuisine. The prices are a bit high for the portions and the portions are on the smaller side – not necessarily bad, just something to keep in mind.
The Wilson park salad if you can make sure they actually put in all the ingredients listed on it (three times they messed up) with grilled chicken added to it will have you craving more. I had two subs I liked a lot and one I didn’t like. The salad makes this place worth it the service is slow and they don’t get it.
