What started as a pleasant evening for a friend’s birthday turned into a horrid experience. We waited for 2 hours for our food. One of our party had to leave hungry because they couldn’t get good food out within an expected time. When he asked the server to please check on his order they didn’t even have to courtesy to tell him if it was to be ready before he had to leave. After speaking to the manager, he was told it was OUR fault for not ordering from a smaller menu. Then the manager refused to further listen to him. Another friend heard a server telling the table next to us that it was again OUR fault for them not getting their food out sooner. What an irresponsible and unprofessional way to try to win business. They’ve lost mine… to bad our very well connected group will have nothing good to say about their bland food or their bland service.
This place is on the ground floor of an office building just to the left of Carlyle in Shirlington. Run by a nice Sicilian chap called Nino, I can see this place becoming a new favorite for high quality Italian food with a flair that may remind you of your last trip to Italy. Great wine list with some wines you won’t see anywhere else. We found he had several wines made by Planeta from Sicily which we found once in an Enoteca in Spello. Food was excellent. Marinated octopus, a crostini with fresh anchovy and garlic that was KILLER, pasta with wild boar (a favorite), linguini with clams, garlic and rocket, and finally some baby cannoli which were perfect. Terrific Lavazza espresso with a nice cream. We really enjoyed this place.
