Much improved Ping. What a difference! I visited Ping's several times in the 2011-12 years and agree that it...well...it sucked in those days. Food wa…

High prices, mediocre food. It's not that the food here is bad, it's just doesn't merit the prices being charged for it. Neither authentic Chinese nor…

Save your money – please. $5 for miso soup – really? And it was watered down, too. Food lacked seasoning; just terrible overall for the high prices they charge. Will not go back!
Everything about this place sucks. Management is rude, uninterested and strolls around the restaurant not attending to neglected customers but joking with the idiot staff and hiding from work. Service is painfully slow and even a basic California roll will come out looking like a 2 year old made it-blindfolded. My friends and I have given this place numerous tries over the years and it just gets worse and worse. Soup is watery, sushi is like dog food, and everything is overpriced thanks to their poor renovation taste. Drinks are also weak and overpriced as well. FAIL
Couldnt figure out why this restaurant was always empty when i walked through Shirlington so i stopped in over the weekend. Now i get it…the prices of the items run from $18-$24. Clearly noone is willing to pay that kind of money for what everyone else in town is offering for $10. It’s unfortunate cuz in it’s previous incarnation (Charlie Chang’s) this place was packed to the rafters every day…Kind of sad…
Stale Wasabi. If you like to pay more for extra small rolls and bad service then this is your place. The location of the restaurant draws in a good crowd since it’s in a coveted spot in Shirlington Village. The Wasabi was so stale that my 10 year old could eat it by the spoonful without tasting it.We spent twice as much for half the food we usually get in a Japanese Restaurant.
The lemongrass chicken was basically fried chicken with plain brocolli and plain white rice. We had a big party and they sat us under flourescent tubes. Ugh!
Service sucks but delivery is amazing.
The Search Goes On. I am still in search of amazing sushi in D.C. (yes I have a few places in the middle of D.C. saved on my wishlist, but I don’t typically enjoy spending an hr in traffic or on the metro to get sushi) Enough of my problems though, because Ping has plenty of its own. It would appear as though Ping has a bit of an identity issue. . . is it sushi? is it P.F. Changs? or is it simply a place that just doesn’t quite get anything right. With that said, if you haven’t ever had good sushi then by all means have yourself a wonderful time. . . but don’t say my review or all of the others on this page didn’t warn you.
