Wish I could give 0. And it is really too bad because the Sushi is actually good. My boyfriend and I like to order from Ping at least once per month and the past time we ordered everything got messed up. It would have been fine except the Manager, Beck, was a complete jerk. The girl who took my order kept getting it wrong, she claimed her computer kept messing up. Not a big deal until my order arrived and I was charged for 2 extra rolls (and extra $18.50). This was after we confirmed the order at least 5 times. I also realized part of the order was missing. When I contacted ping, the girl who took my order talked to her manager, and she offered me a delivery for the missing parts and a complimentary dessert in exchange for the extra rolls. We are not interested in a dessert and I hated the idea of wasting the food, and additionally I felt I was owed a refund or gift certificate, especially seeing how expensive their sushi is. When I told the girl she put her manager on the phone. He got on the phone and was super rude and kept arguing with me. Then the icing on the cake was he hung up on me. Overall, I will sacrifice their sushi for better customer service.
Much improved Ping. What a difference! I visited Ping’s several times in the 2011-12 years and agree that it…well…it sucked in those days. Food was meh and service was lousy. A friend in Shirlington convinced me to give them a second chance…and now it is one of my favourite places there. New Sushi chef has completely won me over. Creative and with wonderful presentation. Good sake selection. too. Prices are in line with other Arlington places. Hated it 2 years ago, but am now converted. Happy hour specials are also pretty good.
High prices, mediocre food. It’s not that the food here is bad, it’s just doesn’t merit the prices being charged for it. Neither authentic Chinese nor the cheap take-out most people are used to, Ping’s tries to carve itself a niche by offering nouveau Asian cuisine. But it just doesn’t pull it off that well. If you are in the mood for Asian, walk across the street the T.H.A.I. You will get better food for the same price or less.
