Great Pizza. Ate at C’s this afternoon with a couple of my tennis friends and had a great pizza and wonderful time. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely going back!
Terrible Service/Food Ok. Waitress was friendly but very incompetent. It started off when she tried to tell us about the specials. They were just hastily wrote on a food order slip and all she did was lay them on our table for us to try and decipher as she walked away. It just went downhill from there. She walked past us about 4 times without taking away any of the empty plates or bringing waters for us. My dinner came out about 10 minutes before my wife’s, which was in part of her standing around not even checking on it. I had the chicken parm with what tasted like canned tomato sauce. My wife’s pizza was so watery that all the toppings slipped off the pizza and all she was eating was soaked dough. Not to mention my wife had to get up and get the red pepper and parm behind us that was at some waiting station. We asked another waiter to talk with the manager, but apparently that was a difficult task for the waiter and she never came over. All in all this was our first time and last time we will be going to this restaurant.
We sat in the bar. Service was great food was Boston’s North End worthy meal in quaint Fredericksburg at a very reasonable price. Draft house wine and mixed drinks were very good. Portions of entree portion was about perfect. Brick oven pizza is the best yet in Virginia.
We tried it for the first time and really liked it. I had the pizza and it was as close to real Italian pizza as you can find. It was a busy night there but the service was excellent and the wait was minimal. Other reviews complained about the service – they were great the night we were there! Give them a try next time you want to have a good Italian meal…
Replace all bartenders!. My girlfriends and I went here for happy hour in June. I had already had a previously bad experience here a year ago, so this was the second time that I reluctantly came back. We sat at the bar. I was alone at the time I ordered my first drink and there were only 4 other people at the bar. I ordered my drink, which was a glass of wine. The female bartender(blonde) took at least 10 minutes to pour me a glass, when she only had one other drink to make. Then when my girlfriends ordered drinks(also wine), it took around 15 minutes for their drinks to come out. Out came our bills and they had charged us non-happy hour prices. We pointed out their chalkboard sign and they told us the sign was wrong but they would give us the price. By the way, the blonde MADE us cash out because her shift was ending and she wanted her tip! We agreed to do that, but it was a bit of a hassle with the new bartender. We ordered another wine drink. Once again, they charged us non-happy hour prices. The brunette, late-thirties bartender was very huffy when we pointed to the sign and once again she suggested the sign was wrong! Is it just me, or does someone need to get up and CHANGE THE SIGN? She was extremely rude to us, so we did not give her a tip. All I can say is I will not return as the waitstaff is clearly unaware that success depends on making the customers happy at even a minimum level of human decency and respect.
Typical night at Castiglia’s -. Just to be clear we like Castiglias. Maybe its the unique location and overall dining experience. I know it must be a combination of things that keeps us going back rather often because its definitely not attributable to the quality of the food or the professionalism of the staff. We have always gambled on certain dishes here and have become accustomed to inconsistent food quality from week to week. Our server, Leeann, was happy, energetic and polite. However, I lost ten dollars during our meal on betting whether or not she would get any segment of our order correct. It was very obvious during the onset that she was not really focused thats what led to our little personal game between the seven of us. Our table had a blast betting on what individual thing would be forgotten or just completely miss-ordered and redone. I was rooting for her, but with a less than 50/50 success ratio, I and my table simply lost out the majority of the time. The bottom line here is that the staff is poorly trained and that the management has never been observed checking on customer satisfaction during any dining experience at Castiglias. Hmmm…I wonder if they really care??Would I recommend Castiglias to friends? The answer is yes. It is unique enough that it can make for a fun time and overall good experience. I would try to steer away from any seafood dishes after personally observing their storage and preparation techniques (kinda scary depending on who is working behind the kitchen bar). The pizza is fabulous so go have fun with friends tonight!! (just set proper expectations for newbies)
