Good niche cafe. You don’t go here and get the usual ham on rye sandwich. Get one of their stranger named sandwiches and it’s really delicious and usually completely different from most places in the area. Yeah they’ll have some standard items, and sometimes the sandwich depends on who’s making it, but regardless it’s still a quality place to eat.
I’ve visited twice and been deeply disappointed both times. Pre-made, bland, expensive sandwiches and terrible, mayonnaise-loaded salads. Even the baked goods were bad! The coconut cupcakes were parched dry and had no coconut flavor. I don’t understand why the place is so busy or how people say the food is good. Worst of Fredericksburg.
Pre made sandwiches?. They have a case full of ready made sandwiches. Kind of like a cafeteria. You use a tray. That’s it.
Delicious pastries and good cappuccino. I also like the atmosphere but the service was a little clumsy.
Phenomenal sandwiches and salads! the bakery items look great as well. very characteristic ambiance in a former church. very friendly and helpful staff
Exceptional. The owner of Eileen’s Bakery in Fredericksburg, VA was just wonderful today to me. Although closed today, she made my mom a reuben sandwich along with coconut almond cake, apple bite, apricot glazed cookie, drink, chips and took it to my mom’s house herself. My dad died 4 yrs ago today. This woman does not know us. Just a simple call. Wow – Trista (owner) reminds me that people can be so darn good. So heartwarming. Mom said exceptionally delicious!
Lose the microwave; gain more sit-down customers.. Keep in mind that everything on the breakfast menu is prepared in advance and reheated by being nuked in a microwave. This makes almost any dough based item rubbery and/or soggy. This method can also produce uneven heating. This is a sacrilege. Why would anyone go through all the trouble of preparing good quality, tasty food only to have it ruined inside of a microwave oven? This gives a customer the choice of either eating a cold item or selecting something that will not be compromised by placing it in a microwave oven.My advice is to the owner is to go out and purchase a couple of large toaster ovens with a convection option for about $100 each. It’ll be a wise investment. Until then, the best way to enjoy an Eileen’s breakfast item is to get it to go and heat it properly at home in a conventional or toaster oven. The bear claw pastry was very flavorful and fresh on the inside, slightly old and dry on outside. The raspberry danish was nothing special. The cappuccino serving was generous but had a hint of bitterness.Value for the money is average. Service was adequate. Eileen’s is a good concept poorly executed.
