Foode is for FoodiesWe have been trying to get to this restaurant for weeks and we were not disappointed. We started out with the pimiento cheese toast and it was a tiny crispy morsel of cheesy goodness that I used to sop up the gravy on my appetizer. You can’t go wrong for about $1 per piece. I chose the mushroom with thyme butter as an app. It was amazing. For the main course my husband ordered the burger. The pun name was fabulous the burger was not as it was deficient on seasoning. However, my sage chicken with fennel honey was amazing. The crispy chicken skin paired so nicely with the sweet honey sauce and salty fingerling potatoes.
We just happened to be walking by as the am Sunday line was forming about 15 minutes before they opened. I looked it up and found great reviews so we jumped in line. We had 8 people and we were all visitors from out of town. The staff was great the atmosphere fun and relaxed. The food was awesome. A couple of my brothers got chicken and waffles. They devoured them. My daughter and I got the veggie omelette. It was light and fluffy with real veggies (not just onion)! My dad went for the good old eggs bacon and potatoes. He gave it his grunt of approval. It is a small place with good food! Be there early!
Not sure if it was an off night or this place is overrated. Started strong, chef salad was delicious, you could taste fresh and local with local cheese and a candied bacon, excellent. Had the Greek bread, again fresh feta cheese, good bread, had me primed for the main courses we ordered, chicken two ways and the ribeye steak. Unfortunately they didn’t deliver expectations. Baked chicken, dark meat, was tough, and the fried chicken breast wasn’t much better and over powered by the Rosemary sprig it was cooked with. Steak was underwhelming, flavoring okay but no zip, zing or zest to differentiate it from anything you might get at a chain steakhouse. Sorry guys, will come back and try again, but just didn’t get what we were expecting based on other reviews.
WOW! What a great experience! I stopped by for dinner with a good friend. It was outstanding. The atmosphere is just pure cool. Very casual but screams eclectic style. The service was outstanding and friendly. The food is the true STAR here however. I ordered the night’s burger special. Fresh organic timber farms creek ground beef, soft melted cheddar, cilantro crema, fresh lettuce and cucumber salsa and their fresh hand made fries dusted with an amazing house spice. It was OFF THE CHAIN! Flavor TOWN resident for life! Great place, GO GO GO! You’ll be glad you did!
I’ve been to Foode several times. A bit different than normal on the experience, but the food is consistently superior. I have yet to have a less than stellar meal at Foode.
I was not impressed with my brunch experience today. I had very high expectations from the menu and ratings. Even when I got there it was difficult to pick an item because they all sounded great and I love the concept of organic local foods served in the sweet kitschy nooks that help to revive historic downtown. However, it totally fell flat. Beyond flat. My friend and I both got biscuits, and they were ice cold, dry and had far too much of a spoon full of flour taste. They were also waaaay too cold and crispy to spread their homemade butters on. For my meal, I got the Sunday hash, which came out to me in a cold cast iron pan with the contents tepid at best. The hash has chicken in it, but hardly any chicken was to be found. But you could find an excess of wonky chicken skin and overdone brown egg pieces. My friend got the black bean burger and hers was also lukewarm at best but had promising flavor. The potato salad, that is served cold, was fantastic.I work hard for my money and love to spend it on great dining at local places but I left very disappointed. There is A LOT of promise for the food with some tweaks, or maybe I am just crazy for wanting hot food and warm biscuits!
So so. I guess I had built up the experience in my mind after reading all the great reviews, but I was slightly disappointed. we waited in the rain, you had to wait longer if you wanted to sit inside. once inside I guess I’m just old school but I don’t like paying that much for food and not having the service. you have to refill your own drinks, and order when you walk in. the food was ok, i didn’t think it was anything special, i had the black bean burger it came with potato salad that really didn’t have much flavor. don’t think i would wait over 1/2 hour to eat there again.
