Pretentiousness defined. I will admit up front that I do sound young on the phone. However, that does not excuse the host who was taking my reservation from asking if I was sure that I could afford to dine here. When making a reservation for Valentine’s Day for myself and my fiance I was informed that The Melting Pot was fine dining (as though I could be unaware of that fact) and that they would require a valid credit card to make my reservation. When I asked why, I was informed that if I did not give 24 hour notice I would be charged for dinner for two, and was asked again if I could afford to pay that charge. I have never had anything to do with this establishment since. Quite a shame, considering that I had more than one lovely experience at a location in Florida. I will never return to any location in the future. You may see this as an over reaction, but I cannot understate the pretentious tone of the staff.

Great food! My wife and I had a date night, worth the expense.

    Worth the price!

Terrific Experience, worth the expense. The Manager was gracious and accomodating. He was very helpful in finding us a terrific, quiet table at which to enjoy our combined anniversary/birthday celebration. The food was fresh, enticing and quite delicious. They have taken the less than stellar fondue craze of the late 70’s and early 80’s and turned it into a truly enjoyable and tasty experience. Our server, Avian, was one of the best we have ever experienced at an American dining establishment. Her calm and unobtrusive attentiveness, coupled with a gentle but obvious enthusiasm, rivaled the quality of service found in most european fine dining restaurants. Avian’s quality of service is the primary reason for our decision to return within just two weeks of our first visit. In summary, while the experience was by no means inexpensive, it was definately worth every penny spent.

Sue. Does anyone think think that $78 – $100 is really expensive considering 1-you don’t get much 2-you cook it yourself 3-everyone is double dipping into the sauces ? Maybe I am old fashioned but when I go out to eat I want to go out to eat not go out to cook.

Favorite place to go to for my birthday…. Although you cook your own food, this is worth the experience. It is romantic and the wine paired with the cheese, meets, and vegetables is always satisfying. Fondue is just something fun to do which does not seem to be possible from home. Last time I went, we ordered the Beer/Cheddar fondue and the waiter actually gave me the recipe (which I replicated but it just was not as much fun at home). Also did the filet mignon with lobster which was excellent, very tender and fresh. The peanut butter chocolate fondue…always go back to that…why change a good thing. 🙂 Upon request, they will arrange balloons, flowers and candy to make the moment even more special. Reservations are a must if you do not want to sit with strangers, especially on the weekends.
