This place was not very good. Staff was nice but the food was not great. It was good enough, but my family and I will not be going back. Little pricey for the amount of food.

Worth the trip.. Love this little slice of hometown heaven. The food is excellent, and so is the service and the family like feel. Not many places like this one left.

US comes through again. I happened to be in Chesapeake dropping off some things and picking up a geocache and since it was lunch time I thought I’d get some take out and head home. Upon searching closest joints I found City Deli. The reviews were good, the rating high and it was wicked close. My intention was to take out but once I got in there it seemed too welcoming and comfy not to stay. I checked the specials and settling on Salisbury steak, mac n cheese, peas and a piece of bread. It came rather quickly and it was steaming hot! The mac n cheese was cheesy and creamy! Just how I like it. The peas had some kind of seasoning that made them quite delicious. I mean it’s peas. What can you do to them? The Salisbury steak was incredibly juicy and very tasty. My serving might have had a wee (really wee) bit too much salt but it wasn’t enough to turn me off to trying it again. I have a slice of their French silk pie in my fridge for later. Oh, what made me really was happy was the fact that even though they’re Coke on tap people they had can diet Pepsi. To me, that is a solid plus for a deli/restaurant! All in all, I was very pleased and will be stopping in there again next time I’m in Chesapeake. Oh, yeah…all that food was only $8 bucks!

Road Trip Break. The City Deli is my one stop break between No. Va and the Outer Banks. I found this place 6 years ago and stop by every year. GREAT FOOD!!!!

Love City Deli!. I love the fact that when you go in its like visiting with friends. And, Elayne goes to great lengths to have a nice variety of menu items and weekly/daily specials.

A great bridge favorite!. I enjoy eating city deli. although they can be a bit pricy with small portions, their sandwiches are fresh and made to order. service can be slow at times and having the option to drink from a can soda is a bit odd for a resturant experience but overall, i would recommend city deli for a quick sandwich on the go.
