I worked close by and this was my go to Thai spot when I had a craving or was sick and needed that good ol Tom yum soup to recover. I’ve had just about everything they have to offer and it’s all delicious. The place isn’t set up like your normal thai spot and is very small but the food was good and the people were very friendly. Unfortunately the very last time I visited the ladies who usually cook weren’t back there. I ordered a Tom yum soup. I watched the guy make the soup. Add all the ingredients and then pull a soon out of his apron, taste it and then put it back in his apron. Made me wonder how many times he used his tasting spoon that day. That was a bit of a turn off and I just haven’t been back since.

Owner yelled at 6 month pregnant customer. It was our first time ordering/eating from here. My mom ordered takeout and asked for my pad Thai to be a little extra spicy. I’m 6 months pregnant and when I went to eat it it was WAY too spicy – I like spice but my lips were burning. I felt bad but called to see if they would do an exchange explaining my tastes may have changed from pregnancy. The girl was very nice and said yes just bring in the spicy dish. When I walked in, the owner started immediately yelling at me and telling me how much $ they lost because of me. She said if I can’t handle spicy food not to order. I tried to be very nice and she kept yelling at me saying that she told her staff not to cook for me spicy again if I ever call or come in. She was legitimately scolding and yelling at me. I have never ever in my life been treated this way by anyone. If she did not want to remake the food that is her decision but that’s between her and the employee who agreed to remake it – she had no business yelling at a customer (a very nice and pregnant customer, no less).I would also like to add that my father’s yellow curry was soupy and had pineapples in it and not potatoes. I cannot believe how horribly I was treated and will never eat here again. I suggest that no one else does either since they clearly do not respect their customers.

Best Thai in Greenbirer!. Jasmine Thai Cuisine is another excellent find and it’s much closer to work than I originally thought. Three of us decided to head on over for lunch on Thursday and two of us hadn’t been there before so it was a big plus we were going with someone who was familiar with the menu and Thai food in general. After looking the menu over several times I was really having a hard time deciding what I wanted to go get for my entree. Honestly there are so many combinations listed on the menu I wanted to sample about 5 different dishes. Eventually I decided on an item and we started ordering away. For starters we each ordered an app. I picked the Shrimp Spring Rolls and we also had Chicken Spring Rolls and Gyow Grob (#5 on the menu) which is wonton stuffed with ground chicken and garlic then deep-fried. It’s served with sweet & sour sauce and crushed peanuts. The appetizers alone were delicious and we mixed and matched everything family style. For my entree I ordered the Kai Saparot which is sliced pieces of chicken and shrimp sauted in brown sauce with cashew nuts, pineapple, snow peas, carrots, onions, mushrooms and bamboo shoot. Head level was a 2 out of 5. I had to go back to work and didn’t want to go crazy. The other two entree’s at the table included Jasmine Stir-Fry (Sliced chicken breast, garlic, chili pepper, green beans, onions, carrots, eggplant, and basil) and Kang Kheow Wan which is a green curry soup with beef sauted with green beans, sweet peas, basil, and coconut milk. The meal rocked and I was Thanksgiving full once it was over. In fact everyone was. If you want some Thai in the Greenbrier area, this is the place to go!

Painfully Slow and Wrong Order!. My boyfriend and I have eaten at Jasmine Thai many times in the past year and have become accustomed to adding an additional 20 or so minutes to their predicted ready time. Tonight we placed a carry out order at 5:30 and were told it would be ready in 30-40 minutes. The food was not ready until 7:00, an hour past their predicted time. They also gave us the incorrect food, Combination Fried Rice instead of Jasmine Stir Fry. We took it and ate it because we were not going to wait another hour for the order to be fixed. It was average tasting food made worse by the long wait and the frustration of the mix up. Sadly, that was the last straw for Jasmine Thai and we will have to find another local Thai place.

Horrible Food & Horrible Service. To begin, the restaurant itself is stark with white walls a banquet chairs (gag). And then there’s the service, sit where you like and then wait 15 minutes for the one server to ask you what you’d like to drink…we went ahead and ordered because with 15 minutes, you can generally figure out what you want to eat. Thinking, wow, Pad Thai, it’s awesome down the street at Royal Thai, so this place has go to know how to make it and it SHOULD be great based on others reviews….SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH! I’m not sure if I’m spoiled by the wonderful flavor of Royal Thai or what, but if you enjoy biting into a repugnant flavor of god knows what and under cooked noodles, you MAY enjoy this dish. Trying to figure out what was lacking….I’m use to a sweet and spicy sour thing, this tasted like what I can only imagine plain ole fish sauce taste like…fermented fish, we attempted sprinkling sugar on the dish (the other person had green curry which she couldn’t even finish). The sugar tamed (I’m being generous here) the disgusting flavor for about 3-4 more bits, this being after 3 bites. So after about an hour and a half, we were done. Mind you this was not our doing. It was 15 minutes before she took our order and about another 45 before we got our food, give us 30 minutes to let it cool down (I will say it came right off the grill), taste, cringe, think of adding the sugar, taste again and decide it’s not worth continuing…we left. I left an entire plate of Pad Thai; she left an entire plate of Curry…and we paid over $20 for this experience, oh and don’t forget the additional 30 minutes added to my lunch that I won’t get paid for.

Fantastic!! My husband and I ate here for lunch and we had the Green Curry and the Pad Pak and we both agree it’s the best Thai food we’ve found anywhere in Hampton Roads. We will definitely tell our friends and be back for more!
