  We were eating at Bella Vista for a birthday dinner. We were a party of 6, and 2 of our party had been there before, and had had a great experience, which is why we chose there for the birthday dinner. We ordered a caprese salad and pizza logs as well as 3 pizzas. The appetizers came out timely enough, but then we literally sat there and sat there, waiting for our pizzas. There were several tables around us that had come in much later than we had, and their pizzas were already on their table. We had 2 children in our group who had not eaten the appetizers, and they were literally starving waiting for the pizzas to come out. After what felt like forever,our server and the owner brought out our 3 pizzas. I asked the owner why it had taken so long for the pizzas, and she told me that it had not taken long, and then proceeded to lecture me for a full 5 minutes in front of the entire small restaurant that because we had ordered appetizers, they time putting our pizza order in, and the reason why others tables had their pizzas who came in after us was because they had not ordered appetizers and so their pizzas were in the queue before ours. This was not true, as the table behind us had ordered a caprese salad, and had their pizza a full twenty minutes before us. The table next to us literally got their 2 pizzas 10-15 minutes after sitting down. I was obviously not getting anywhere with the owner who was quite belligerent, and I am not sure what she wanted from us, did she want us to say, yes, we had not just waited an exorbitantly long time for our pizzas, especially considering the restaurant was not busy, and other tables were getting their pizzas in a more timely manner? She literally stood at our table and argued until finally I said we are not getting anywhere with this, you can just leave. Her lecture completely spoiled the entire mood at our table, and we just started to eat so we could get out of there as fast as possible. Then the owner had the gall to return to our table to show us our ticket, which she said was put in at 5:50, and so we had only waited 40 minutes, not 45 minutes for our pizza. I have no idea what she was trying to prove, but she obviously doesnt understand customer service, and I told her so. In this tiny restaurant she then proceeds to talk about us to her open kitchen/ pizza staff, and the pizza chef literally yells out that we need to go, to expedite us out of there. It was incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and uncalled for, in front of the entire restaurant, and I cant believe that this owner turned a small customer service issue of timing for the pizza, into such a horrible experience for us. I will never, ever eat at this restaurant again, and I will highly encourage everyone I know to not eat here. All she had to do was apologize for the wait, and if there was a reason for it, such as our ticket getting lost etc., that would have been nice to know. Instead she lectured us, and embarrassed us in front of the entire restaurant. This was literally the worst behavior I have ever seen out of a business owner and she should not be in charge of a business where customer service is key to its success. Unfortunately, I cant really rate the food, as once she started arguing and lecturing us, I no longer felt like eating the pizza, and we literally boxed it up, paid and left. My husband did manage to choke down a piece, and he said it was not that good. I am still horrified how a family birthday dinner at what we thought would be a nice Italian pizzeria turned into such an incredibly bad night leaving most of our party embarrassed and in tears. Shame on you!

  This place is fantastic! The food is outstanding – lovingly prepared with high-quality ingredients. It’s not a big place, with only about 10 tables (depending on configuration), so make reservations. The owners actually work there and it seems that everyone takes great pride in providing the best food, the best service, and the best dining experience. My only suggestion would be to somehow create a seating area for people who are waiting so they don’t have to hover and feel ‘in the way.’ Maybe put some barstools up at the kitchen window, so folks could have a glass of wine and watch the cooking while they wait. I’ll definitely be returning here.

  First time to go out and try the place (Saturday night)…I arrive and there is a marquee (chalkboard) stating that they will be closing early for a private party and that those who show up after 7:15PM will not be seated. WTF? I was there at 7:20PM and so I my wife and I left in disgust. What kind of an establishment closes their place on a Saturday night (which is a big pizza night) so that someone can take over the place? They should have scheduled this party during the week or a NON-busy night. Also, Bella Vista didn’t bother to post this closing online so that people like myself wouldn’t drive up from Va Beach to find out they closed it to the public. Last trip I ever make there. I hope they made a lot of money on that private party, because they lost me as a returning customer!

  Hands down the best Neopolitan pizza in all Hampton Roads. This place imports their ingredients for an authentic pie. The crisp, thin crust has the burnt characteristics you can only achieve in their wood fire oven. Bruschetta is great, with a smoky flavor, the Quatro Formaggio pizza is amazing!!!! Top the dinner off with the Affogato Fredo, it’s a great treat. Love these guys!!!

  True Italian pizza. Everything was very fresh and unique. I had a mushroom pizza. It came out with brown truffle sauce and was killer. It’s small inside so go earlier or later.

  This is the good stuff! Straight from Italy! I stopped here recently on a Saturday afternoon with a co-worker, Kirk. He lives near here and said I’d really like the place. We picked the perfect time, around 2pm that afternoon and there was only one other table a the time. Our waiter was a young man named Maxon (if I remember that correctly).I started off the meal with an order of Bruschetta Pepperone. This was a combo of red and yellow peppers that had been marinated with garlic, sea salt and EVOO then served on toasted bread. There were cheese crumbles over that. Very very good! Before we could finish our app the pizza’s we ordered arrived. Kirk went with a pie called the Vegetariana which is served with a red sauce, mozzarella, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, red onion, romano and EVOO. The pizza I selected was the Salsiccia Picante. This pie also starts off with a red sauce and mozzarella, however it then adds Hot Italian Sausage, Gorgonzola, Red Onion and Calabrain Chili Peppers. My pizza was excellent and let me tell you, those little Calabrain Chili Peppers are hot. If you want some pep in your pizza, this is the one to try. Not only were the peppers hot, the had a great after taste. Kirk said the same about his veggie pizza. BTW before I forget it, the dough as well as the toppings were all extremely fresh. No doubt about it.All in all it was an exceptional lunch experience and I’m really looking forward to returning here very soon.
