My newly wed wife and I decided to have breakfast here the day after the wedding. We were recommended by family that had been there before. The service was great. The food was excellent. Nothing crazy, but just very well done. Satisfying without being pretentious. I had the French toast with eggs, hashbrowns, and pork sausage links. Everything was pretty much perfect. My wife had the cronuts breakfast platter with eggs, home fries and pork sausage links. Her food was excellent as well. For both platters, we spent about 35 for both of us. The quantity of food was overwhelming. I can put away some food and was unable to finish everything unless I were to force myself. An acceptable cost to quantity to quality ratio. We would definitely go back there if we’re ever in the area again!
Best breakfast ever! Totally worth the wait. Omlets & French toast are the best! Yummy cubed hash brown potatoes. Go in between bfast and lunch hours so you can get an order of their to die for Parmesan & garlic waffle fries
Was very pleased with the service and food. Had the typical breakfast of eggs, sausage and pancakes. Also tried the one in Portsmouth and was very happy there also. Has a more upscale atmosphere with food and service just as good.
Great food, service is fast and enjoyable! Best part is the garlic fries!! Be sure to enjoy endless beverages too! Breakfast and lunch are must tries!
I love the Egg Bistro on Kempsville Rd. Heck I love the Egg Bistro at Harborview too. They do a great job with their Menu and operations. I have dined here countless times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I will say that my only negative would be that there is usually a bit of a wait to be seated. But that’s not really a negative is it? That’s a sign of a popular place. I really enjoy their omelets for breakfast. The eggs are always fresh and made to order. I have visited here with both my family and friends and colleagues for business for that matter. I have never had a bad experience. I have tried their Burgers, their Sandwiches, I have even had the Etouffee. This place is really good. I highly recommend them if your looking for a warm and inviting place with good service. Maybe be prepared to wait a moment or too. But its worth it.
DISAPPOINTED/The broken Egg is Broken. I visited the Broken egg several times over the past few years and was impressed with the hefty portions and down right goodness of the food. I always felt it was worth the wait, alas all good things must come to an end. Gifted a $35.00 gift card,I was looking forward to dining at the retaurant, while the staff was friendly and prompt, the meals were a true disappointment. I ordered from the Throwback Thursday menu and the meal the Rockefeller chicken should have been thrown out. The top portion of the blackened chicken was tough and the spinach sandwiched between another piece of chicken was salty and tasted as if it had been recycled many times. I wont return and regret the demise of the Broken Egg or the Egg Bistro as it is now called.
Sunday breakfast. Avoid Sundays. They were so busy that the kitchen took shortcuts. I order Egg Benedict. 10 minutez after my husband already received his dish it came with the English muffin not toasted and Lukewarm. I send it back and just ordered eggs, bacon and toast. That came out in 2 minutes. The toast was not toasted and the bacon was cold and limp. I only good thing about the meal was the waitress was very good. As we were paying our bill I seen her tell the manager about our experience and he did not even come over to apologize.
