I apologize for the ‘typos’ in my first review. ‘spit’ should have been ‘spot’ and ‘ricmond’ should have been ‘Richmond’.16 Sep, 2011I have soft spit for the few quality run family businesses left in Ricmond. Don’t complain… They will make right and always cook what you like. Just ask. One of my favorite places to go for American-Style Chinese food. Typical items found on most restaurants and prepared by Dad and son in the kitchen with care, John, the other son, works the frontend with Mom’s help. Just FYI. If any of you want real Chinese you’ll have to arrange dinner with the staff or catch an airplane to Bejing. Chinese food as we know it here is totally Americanized and is not even close to the real thing. Again, ask John to cook something up special and have a great experience!
A great find!. We were looking for decent take-out Chinese food north of Richmond. We were very pleased to find Zheng’s, which has a traditional menu and a bright and clean dining room. We tried three different dishes (chicken and vegetable), and were very pleased with each of them. The food was well prepared (they say they use vegetable oil and no MSG), hot and tasty. We will certainly return for take-out and for their reasonably-priced luncheon menu. What a pleasure to find a very good Chinese restaurant close to our own neighborhood!
Not bad, but…. I ordered double cooked pork. There was an excessive amount of sauce/liquid, so there was far less food in the takeout box than most restaurants. Also, the menu said double cooked pork has cabbage and green peppers. I told them to omit the green peppers. They did, but they added zucchini and mushrooms. First, zucchini and mushrooms aren’t in this dish. Second, if they are going to include such items in the dish, their menu should list that, not just the green pepper part. Doesn’t sound like a big deal but it was to me. Between the liquid and digging out a bunch of veggies I didn’t ask for, there wasn’t much left.
You have to try it!!. This restaurant serves GREAT upscale chinese food and provides you with a calm serene atmosphere and great wait staff. My favorite is the shrimp fried rice, which contains more shrimp than rice…you have to try it!
