Fried Pickles Are Good. I only go for the fried pickles. I haven’t tried much else, but I enjoy the fried pickles. Usually get them to go.But you do have to admit, the collection of piggy memorabilia in there is impressive — Lots of stuff given the size of the restaurant.
Don’t see how this place got over 75%. Pretty lame. BBQ tastes like manwich, and seems to have been sitting in a pot all day. Mac and cheese was neon orange and tasted worse than Kraft, didn’t really taste like cheese at all. Better off going to a chain around here. Oh and the tea was from concentrate.
Took a walk up the road from the truck stop, on the recommendation of one staff. I’ve had bbq from all over the country. No combo platter, nothing special. Had their most popular. Bbq pulled pork sandwich w/ fries & hushpuppies. Wow, is this really the best they have in town? Nice try folks, but I should’ve kept walking…back to the truck stop! Nuf said.
Good little diner. This place looks like it wouldnt be worth entering, but its a great little diner! Nothing spectacular as far as food choices, mainly just your typical little diner food, but its an old place with a nice homey feel and the food is good. Not spectacular, but for a cheap quick bite you cant go wrong here if you just wanting a burger and fries. Has a drive-in which is just a nice little experience. Old school but good. They have great old car shows there and theyre definitely worth going to!
Interesting drive-in with dining room. Found this place using our in-car GPS system as we drove past Harrisonburg, Virginia last night (12/17/12). Had a guest with me from another country and thought a drive-in would be an interesting experience.Too cold and damp to sit in our car, so we went inside. Small dining room but stuff with Christmas decorations and rock-n-roll memorabilia including a working juke box. Clean, not noisy, and about half full with diners. The menu offers sandwiches and dinner plates. We both selected Bar BQ from the dinner side of the menu and were asked if we wanted the diner version which included fries and hushpuppies. I ordered fried pickles for my quest. Total bill came to about $20.We were disappointed when our dinner arrive to find the Bar-bq was served between 2 hamburger rolls instead of a heaping hot serving on the plate. Fries are fries and the hushpuppies were unremarkable. The cole-slaw was of the sweet variety and had too much liquid. There was no ketchup on the tables (A1 Sauce, a hot sauce similar to Tabasco sauce and a nice mustard were on each table, but no ketchup). Nor were there any Bar-BQ sauces one expects at a Bar-BQ place. My guest and I ate about half the meal, and left wishing we had selected some other restaurant for our stop in Harrisonburg. In summary, an interesting and friendly drive-in, apparently popular with the local folk. We won’t be back.
Great ribs and make sure to get the fried pickles!!!
Will make sure we stop when in the area! Great atmosphere and the food is good too!
