Good value for family. This restaurant has become THE favorite for my sons (ages 8 & 0) and me. There is variety enough to keep me as an adult entertained going weekly, and if I get bored, I can opt to mix my own creation. The kids love it, and for a moderate 8 dollars or so, they can fill up and get an ice cream cup. It relaxes me because the want to fill up on broccoli and green beans and salad and orange slices instead of French fires. The dcor is what it is: slightly clichd and dated, but my kids love it, love the chandelier, the fish tank, the fat frog statue at the desk, the Chinese pop music playing in the background. And the staff is friendly. I can understand a previous review that spoke of some of the ‘quirkiness’ of the staff. They are friendly, and occasionally loud. I actually rather like that, it seems natural. And they know my sons and I by name (we are ‘3 Diet Pepsi’s’) when we come in and the manager gives my kids lollipops when I cash out. Not perfect, but good way to take the kids for a bite and enjoy yourself without spending a fortune
I will do everything in my power to shut this place down. Everything was wrong, and I’m not exaggerating. The food was awful, the service awkward and the atmosphere just plain unsettling. The sushi had a green onion in it. How do you mess that up? No, seriously, how? Everything tastes like a truck stop pickle, and it will make you sick like one. The staff are just strange, especially whoever rang us up at the end of the meal. He decided to shout at one of his workers while ringing us up, which made for an awkward exchange. The atmosphere was that of a dilapidated theme park, with half the lights working and some that looks like they hadn’t been replaced in years.the side of the store is in severe disrepair. The buffet itself was hidden in low light, possibly to mask the poor quality of the food, which even by buffet standards was terrible.Everything was wrong. Everything. Avoid at all costs, you’ll thank me later.
Typical Chinese Buffet. Typical Chinese buffet: cheap, tasty and convenient. Yes, it’s dimly lit and kinda dingy, but it’s not disgusting. Just slightly outdated. The dcor is the same now as it was when I remember the restaurant opening (between 1998 and 1999-ish, I believe)I used to frequent this place religiously in college. No, seriously. After a few visits, I think I got a customer loyalty discount or something…the guy at the front register would always round my purchase down to the nearest dollar. Or maybe he didn’t like counting change from the register 20 minutes before closing. Either way, I ate there often and for cheap.Take out is done by the pound…you can get A LOT of food for $8!Mind you this information is based on food experiences from a few years ago. Now I’m only back in Harrisonburg on a sporadic basis and haven’t been here recently.
Love me some DP. $3.95 lunch buffet!? I love this place. Great service. Same quality food you would get at any take out chinese restaurant. Rice, chicken, beef, veggies, egg rolls. Ice cream, chinese donuts. GIve it a shot.
Service is great. Inexpensive buffet with lots of options. Atmosphere is old and dingy, but it’s a great place for a fast economical meal. No MSG on this buffet makes it friendly for those with MSG sensitivities.
This place is ok for a college town. Pretty cheap chinese food buffet and I always leave full and satisfied. I wouldn’t go there if you are expecting gourmet Chinese food. Waitresses are always nice and attending to drinks
Uh-oh. Its a great deal on an unlimited chinese buffet option but look out, my guts were churning for days after my meal here.
