  We stopped at this steak house while traveling through town from Texas to Virginia.. as Texans, we were VERY pleasantly surprised to find great steaks and sides alike. We both had locally sourced aged ribeyes that were cooked to perfection. The dipping sauces were awesome and we tried the Mac and cheese, veggies, risotto and mashed potatoes which were all superb. The deserts were good but a little overpriced for what we got. All around a great experience! P.S. they have a wonderful local cab here if you are a wine drinker!

  Never buy a gift certificate at the Chop & Grill – Received one from a friend as a gift and they do not honor them and ruined our nice evening! The manager was very rude and blew us off. Will never eat there again

  One and done. Family of five, dinner out 11/09/13.Made reservations to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. Made the reservation well ahead and received two phone calls confirming our reservation. Very proactive and appreciated. The Chop House’s conduct prior to our arrival set the bar very high, so I was looking forward to an excellent evening.When we arrived they initially had trouble finding our reservation. Once found we went to the bar for drinks while we waiting for our table. We arrived a little early so this was fine.Once we were seated it was apparent that they were short staffed. It took 10 minutes before our waiter apologetically arrived. He continued to be harried throughout the course of our meal.Slow service aside, the drinks, appetizers and entrees were fine. I had the 8 oz filet mignon. Tasted fine, but had a piece of gristle running through it. Unforgivable at these prices.After we had received our check and paid, the waiter then came out with the complimentary birthday cupcake. Well we had already had our desert and were preparing to leave. Short staffing had struck again.Valet parking was nice and necessary as there is no parking. Dinner totaled $250 plus valet tip. At these prices my expectations are very high…as they should be. They were not met and we will not be returning.

  Incredible!. We had an incredible meal and equally great service at the Local Chop & Grill House. Thanks Rob for your helpful suggestions and excellent service. We were in good hands and the kitchen did not disappoint. The rib-eye steak was flavourful, tender, and cooked to perfection. The side dishes are creative and really add to the main dish. We would love to stay and work our way through the local beer list. Lucky Harrisonburg!!!

  Great food but….. The food is fresh and excellent. The oyster appetizer was mostly fried pickles and only 3 oysters for $11.00. We noticed the portions are smaller than a yr ago but the prices are not! We were a little rushed because it was graduation weekend & the holidays. Problem- Waiter argued with me about my choice of sauce and was pretty insistent. He had our guest sample the wine rather than my husband who ordered it. He did apologize about rushing us though. Service is best when the waiter is not part of your conversation! Liked the valet service as our car was warm when we left .

  Love this place. Great atmosphere either in the bar or main dining rooms. Excellent food with great service. One of our favorite restaurants in the area. Josh is awesome in the bar/lounge and Chef Ryan knocks out your taste buds with the food selections!
