So far my family and I have only had breakfast here and we are NOT complaining! This is a great little find across from the Farmer’s Market just off the downtown beat. This is a cool place with a lot of the old factory vibe being incorporated into the decor. The food is really simple and it’s good food. Real, down-home, feel good, heart warming food! One of these days we’ll make it for lunch and dinner but for now we are super satisfied with the amazing breakfast. Spoiler alert… the donuts are posted to their Instagram feed.
A lovely and delicious place. We had burgers and the chicken sandwich. Great beer offerings and then on to the amazing doughnuts for dessert. Wow. They have done a wonderful restoration on an historic property and everything is clean and tidy. The staff was wonderful!. Not only did we love the food and ambiance, but we accidentally left a bag of goodies we purchased from the nearby stores and called after we realized it back home in Maryland. They were so kind to pack up our bag and send it on with no charge. How nice. I will definitely go back again and would highly recommend to anyone in and around Harrisonburg. MMmmm – next time I will try the shakes.
The beauty of Pure Eats is the quality and simplicity. You have three choices – beef, chicken, or veggie patty. I have tried the first two, and can recommend them both. I was particularly taken by the subtle and delicious seasoning of the chicken. For a side, you get fries, sweet potato fries, fried pickle chips, or onion rings. I haven’t had the fries, but I’ve had the rest. The pickles are pretty low on my list of top fried pickles (I’m quite the connoisseur), but both the sweet potato fries and the onion rings rocked my world. (I haven’t had onion rings this good since The Varsity in Atlanta – like those, they are the delicious battered, not breaded, kind with more onion than fried stuff. I could write pages about them!) The donuts are pretty good, but not good enough to justify the calories in my book. The decor seems to match the feeling of the renovated Ice House building. It has this cozy but industrial feel, with brick walls, metal tables, and retro touches. It’s a great, uncomplicated place to hang out with friends.
