This hole-in-the-wall Mediterranean restaurant is a lovely surprise, at least in terms of food. On atmosphere alone, it might get a 1.5 rating – maybe. It’s tiny and cramped and often packed, and on cold days the frigid air rushes in every time the door opens. But it’s completely worth it for the delicious, plentiful, reasonably priced food. The homemade hummus or baba ganoush are great places to start, particularly with the yummy pita. For a main course, you can’t go wrong with either gyro or kebab. Personally, my go-to meal is a bowl of lentil soup (the best lentil soup I’ve ever had) and the (very flavorful) Mediterranean salad. Xenia scores high on taste and value and low on atmosphere, but it balances out and is worth many return trips.
This place rocks!. Just ate there for the first time last night…and I am planning on going back again tonight with my family! I got the spicy gyro and pita and hummus, both were amazing. I was sad when my plate was empty, will definitely be going back as much as I can!
LUV it!!!. We love this place. Very very good food, great staff. Wish we lived closer so we could eat here more often. Whenever we pace through town, we stop by to enjoy a great feast!!!
Excellent! We have eaten here several times, and it has been great every time. The lamb kabobs are great, as well as the gyros. And the pita is so good! Highly recommend.
I love this place. Excellent food!!! Great price.
Good Food! Would’ve liked a happier waitress :(. My friend and I ate here last night, Sat 9-8-13, around 7 pm. We ordered the sampler platter. What we choose: chicken and lamb kabob, falafel, biyrani (rice, curry, other spices, almonds, chicken, & raisins), nok(chickpeas w/ spices), spicy cilantro sauce and special Meditteranean sauce. Our waitress recommended the biyrani, since they were out of dolma and I’m glad we took her up on that offer. Everything was delicious, but it seemed busy for 1 waitress and a very small establishment. Also it took a good while for our food to arrive. But she said the pita just came out, so maybe that was it and that it was busy. I hope there’s another waitress there, b/c this one didn’t seem very happy or like she cared about customers. I’ll definately go back, though. I just skimmed over the other reviews and they said the service was good, so maybe we just caught 1 of their servers and she just happened to have a bad day?
This is one of my absolute FAVORITE restaurants in Harrisonburg. Love their beef kabobs ….. Totally melt I’m your mouth steak and love the way they serve it over lovely special rice with super fresh salad ingredients beside, with the most amazing sauces to choose from. And the appetizers and Nan, (like pita bread) cooked authentically in a clay oven is perfect. And the prices Are very reasonable. Love this place. Amazingly good!
