Went solo for late meal. The place seems grubby. Gyro was thrown together, the lettuce on the bottom cooked from the heat of the meat, Gyro meat was not sliced off of the rotating gyro meat cooker, but was bits and pieces, like it had been diced and pan fried. Side of hummus (they were out of baba ganoush) was ice cold and coarse. They dont serve alcohol so I had a Diet Coke. Service was friendly but slow.

Good food. The Athena gyro, the meze five and the Kurdish soup are some of my favorites. Not much to complain about … wish the gyros were wrapped, and no food anywhere should be served in baskets. Ever. Also, servers can get overwhelmed when they’re busy.

Interesting little place near James Madison University tucked neatly behind the outlet mall area across from Walmart. The atmosphere is quaint and there is some outside seating available if you don’t mind the mall traffic. My experience with the staff was not great nor was it bad, it was just bland. Our server was less than professional and anything but interested in what we wanted or needed. After taking our order she forgot what we had ordered and even then forgot to bring us our food. We were able to see into the kitchen and prep area and saw a kitchen staffer in a cast not wearing a glove prepare our food. Regardless of these staff issues the food was delightful! Having travel the Middle East I found the foods comfortably reminiscent of those experiences, which is to say, rather authentic. So if you’re looking for a pleasant gyro, kebab, or hummus in Harrisonburg and you’re ok with forgetful and less than hygienic staff, this is a good little place.
