We decided to try them again after a long lay off. When we arrived they were bragging about being under new ownership. Nothing has changed. Really slow service, new owners obviously never ate there before. 2 hours + for dinner. Not kid friendly either as listing says.
WOW! Great — new Changes. We went to eat at Aunt Sarah’s about a week ago — they have really changed things for the BETTER — great new food choices….. Fresh, smoked BBQ, great fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, Friday night fish fry, etc! They are owned by two new guys — ready to put Aunt Sarah’s back on the map for a great meal!
We just left the location at 9010 Brook Rd and have to say I can’t comment on the food because frankly the smell inside was awful. I might have stayed and written it off to age just to give them a chance, but the Hostess didn’t in the time we were there even greet us. There was one gentleman who arrived just as we did and she sat him, walked past is twice more, got a bus pan and walked past again without ever saying a word. It would have taken just a few words and we would probably be eating there right now instead of Cracker Barrell.
Mmmm. Great service. I had the blueberry corn pancakes they were a little dry for me but good. My son got the banana nut pancakes huge serving and beyond delicious 3 huge pancakes. My other son got the strawberry waffles he asked for a cloud of whipped topping on it… What came made him smile from ear to ear. It was covered in a cloud of whipped topping. Delicious and ample serving. The restaurant was decorated with nostalgic paper clippings from yester year it was a great southern experience will be going back
Chicken and waffles are very good. Service depends on the day and sever as it can be good or below average.
An unimpeachable mainstay. I’ve been eating these pancakes my whole life; they are the standard against which i measure other pancakes. i’m also a big fan of the home fries, which probably aren’t what most people will expect. they’re more like very thick, lightly salted potato chips–but they’re cooked in magical oil and sprinkled with fairy dust (or…maybe that’s just light salt). anyway, it’s quintessential richmond, and you would do well to choose it over an IHOP–nothing against IHOP, but you can have that *anywhere*!
