5 star. This place is the complete package.The bread and butter is great.The steak and chicken is great.The sides were great.The atmosphere is classy.This is the best restaurant I have been to in my business travels in Richmond.
The portion sizes were all much larger than I could eat, which is irritating because I don’t want to pay 60$ when I can only physically eat 1/3 that amount; and food like this, you cant reheat with quality. My typical portion sizes are in line with the medically recommended sizes, so I am not an abnormal eater. There was nothing about the quality or preparation of the food that set it apart from an average steak shop, its good but its not great. I kept looking for their justification in pricing, but even their wine and beer selections can be easily beaten elsewhere, and they went stupid on the alcohol price markup. I expect a decent markup by a business, but not an obscene one. All three menus were bleak with selections, offering only token dishes.
Best steak to date. Its been over 10 years since I’ve been to Richmond (and to Hondos), but this steak still stands out in my mind as the best I’ve had. I went here with 2 friends and remember being very impressed with the entire experience. I am very picky about my steaks and this one was flawless. cooked perfectly, tender and sitting in the perfect amount of light drawn butter. the salad or potato side didn’t stand out, but with meat of this caliber it didn’t matter. I hope to go back one day. if you have the opportunity, check it out.
Beautiful restaurant. Haven’t been to Hondo’s since they moved to their new spot. Wow! Beautiful interior. Loved it. I ate at a nice table in the bar area. I was starving and got a Caesar salad, NY Strip and mashed. The salad took way too long to come out and I over-ate bread. My fault on stuffing it in, but why 15 minutes for a salad? Anyway, salad was good – steak was really good. The price is a bit high, though. $50-ish for the steak, salad and side. Buckheads is more like $35. Wine way high – got a glass of Ravenswood Zin for $10 – the whole bottle at Kroger is just $12.I’ll go back for the setting – hope the prices come down a bit.

Awesome lunch deal- about 10 options under $10. Options are very good- club sandwich, Fresh tuna sandwich…I have not been to Hondo’s for dinner, but you can’t beat the quality for the price during lunch.
Nice place for a romantic dinner and worth the money.. Went here for a drug rep dinner and it was LOVELY. The food was almost perfect (my crab stuffed flounder was just a tad bland) but my colleague had the Hondos chicken and it was EXCELLENT!. Let’s talk about the chocolate rasberry tort. They should change the title of this dessert to Chocolate orgasm in a delicious crust. : ) Wine was great and the blue cheese dressing was so yummy. If you want a great meal in a romantic setting, Hondos is what you’re looking for. ENJOY!
