Food average and quite overpriced. Management is quite poor.
One of my favorites!. I have loved this restaurant since it was Du Soleil in Carytown about 20 years ago! the service is always good, the food is always good and the prices are reasonable. I have introduced many friends and family to the place, and they all love it as well. Great burgers, great salads, great pasta, great wine!
Delish! Will be back. Tuesday night date nite special – 3 courses of goodies.
We made the mistake of going to Mosaic as a group of 6 on a Tuesday night, which is date night, so the restaurant was very busy. We had reservations, however, and still waited over an hour for our food. The zucchini flatbread, edamame hummus, and crispy salmon were good, but our other entrees were disappointing. The bacon-wrapped pork was dry and the bacon paltry. The Fit Cobb was fine but quite decadent for 450 calories, which made us wonder about the counting. I am not sure why the grilled cheese on the children’s menu needs to be cheddar on wheat, but it was as advertised. While nothing egregious stood out, there weren’t enough good things to encourage our return. Our original table was bar-height, which did not work for the elderly member of our party. While we were able to switch tables, I am not sure why the tall table was initially offered. There was also difficulty for our older friend with the steak, which was not tender enough for her to eat at the restaurant. Our party was challenging to please, with ages from 6 to 92, and unfortunately Mosaic was not the right spot.
Great Brunch. The shrimp and grits on the brunch menu was very good, would go back for that dish again and again.
New Years Eve 2012. My husband and I were joined by our dear friends for our third annual New Years Eve dinner tonight at Mosaic. It was fabulous! We were dismayed that there were not more people at the restaurant. Most people think of Mosaic for lunch. Please consider this restaurant for dinner. It was truly a wonderful experience, we had the filet and the pan seared salmon. Both were excellent. the filet was so render you did not need a steak knife. I had the best crab chowder that I have had anywhere. our desserts were the same quality.for a fixed price of $49 it was a real bargain. 5 stars!
Lovely dinner outdoors, a little confusing. My husband and I had a lovely dinner seated outdoors before going to the Modlin Center at the University of Richmond for a performance. At first I was a little concerned about whether we’d make our show on time. As she was seating us, the hostess apologized that she had no dinner menus to give us, only drink menus. And then it took around 5 minutes for our waiter to appear. It looked like each member of the wait staff had 1 or 2 outdoor tables so there was possibly some confusion about which waiter/waitress had which table. We finally got menus and placed our order. As long as our food came out in a timely manner, we would easily be able to make the performance on time. My husband and I split a mini-gorgonzola salad for an appetizer. It was just delicious. Very fresh tasting and tangy. Our entrees arrived after we were done with the salad. My seafood mac and cheese was wonderfully cheesy with a good amount of seafood. My husband had the half pound Angus burger which he was very pleased with. We had plenty of time to make our show.As the menu said to ask about their selection of Barboursville (Virginia) wines, I was hoping that they had a white I was interested in. Unfortunately, only Barboursville reds were available. So I got a glass of an Oregon chardonnay. My husband ordered one beer by pointing it out on a neighboring table. Unfortunately, the waiter thought he was pointing to another beer on the table, so my husband initially got the wrong beer. But the waiter made the situation right.Although we did sit outside, we took a peek at the interior of the restaurant. The kitchen is enormous and takes us half the dining room. This looks a little odd but I guess it is for the Mosaic catering business. The bar looked very relaxing and fun.Although there were some confusing aspects of our dinner, the food and wait staff were very goodl. We’ll go back.
