Pretty good. We were celebrating the 4th in DC and after the fire works wanted to get out of the metro toward our hotel … good food, live music, great waitress and a reasonable price. try the beef stew!

Nice pub!. Parking for this pub is a bit difficult to locate – it’s behind the building and there’s a side-entrance to the restaurant but that’s apparently only after you’ve entered from the front door. That aside, the restaurant is very much styled like an old Irish pub – dark woods and subdued colours which make the place very comfortable. The location isn’t very large so the bar and dining room are co-mingled – there are several TVs located throughout so the restaurant can get a bit loud at times. It’s not deafeningly loud but certainly not a restaurant for a quiet, intimate dinner. We arrived as a large group that (as usual) straggles in over about 30 minutes. This didn’t pose an issue for our waitress who kept our drink glasses full and the food orders flowing without a hitch. The Fish and Chips were on special at $8 which was a decent savings from the regular menu. The potato-leek soup also looked good so I gave it a try. The soup was very tasty – lots of leek flavor in a puree of potato. The fish and chips were excellent – the tartar sauce that accompanied the fish was spicy, a nice touch. The fish was well battered – not an ultra-thin batter nor a cloyingly thick batter but one that was able to withstand the assault of malt vinegar and time without becoming soggy or falling apart. The fish itself was excellent – well cooked and complimented by the spicy tartar sauce. I’ll make an effort to return as some of the other dishes (turkey burger, chicken pot pie, shepherd’s pie) were reported to be excellent by my fellow diners.
