Owner was Ignorant to Staff. We are DDD fans…this place was a disappointment. Beautiful setting, waitress was very good (Jericha), staff was friendly & welcoming. Crab cakes were all filler with a few pieces of lump crab meat, Key Lime pie way overpriced ($4.95) for a tiny slice. The worst part was witnessing the owner being rude & disrespectful to the staff…who were all working hard. We have visited almost 30 DDD featured restaurants & this was the worst by far bc of how we witnessed the owner treating his staff & the disappointing quality of the food. Our $90 would have been better spent elsewhere.
Beautiful location. Looking out over the water is delightful. Dinner was delicious and dessert was equally as good. It’s not in a central location, takes a nice drive through the backroads to get there. After dinner we were visiting with our friends before the drive home. We were asked if we were ordering anything else (besides the after dinner coffee we’d just finished). When we responded we were done – we were invited to move our conversation with our dinner guests outside as they’d like the table please. Really, after spending over $100 for dinner/dessert, drinks, etc., if we’re not going to keep eating get out – our coffee had only been 10 minutes finished. Despite the food – will not be back!
Drove my mother all the way from Virginia Beach on Sunday afternoon for Mother’s Day for fried oysters. Out of oysters!….at a seafood restaurant! Waitress tried to handle the situation well, manager did not.
Worst crab cakes ever. My motorcycle group, ten people, arrived at this restaurant on May 21st for lunch. We ordered drinks. Everyone got their drink in about 10 minutes. Water, ice tea, lemon aid and coke. It took about 15 minutes to get my coke after asking again. The crab cakes were mushy and nondescript. One member did not get his order and had to ask several times. Finally got served ten minutes after the other nine people. During check out and payment the cashier seemed to be in another world and was very slow and over charged.
Chuck-a-Awesome. My wife and I have been here three times. It is much better than one would expect. The portion sizes are good; however, the food is a touch overpriced. The staff is very friendly, and the service is always good. Since we live in the area now, we will most likely become semi-regular diners here.
Wow!. We live so close to this restaurant and haven’t gone until last night. Boy, have we been missing out!! Great service, great food and great place! The crab soup is to die for!! Peach cobbler to top it all off! We will definitely go back!
Great seafood. Returned to Captain Chuck-a-Mucks the other evening for a second visit and really enjoyed it. I had the fried shrimp and scallop combination plate and my wife had the fried shrimp. Both were a little pricey but very good. The slaw was okay but the parmesan new potatoes were very good. This is a neat seafood shack with a nice view that is a little bit hard to find. The owner stopped by our table and was a pleasant host. Our server did a great job staying on top of our order and had the right balance of keeping our drinks filled without hovering. We’ll definitely be going back.
