The Best. I’ve been to this restaurant many years. It is simply the best Mexican food in Norfolk. The service and the food is great. 5 stars. You know that when a restaurant gets packed friday night, it must be good. I recommend going to El Rodeo.
What the?. I went to El Rodeo on Va.Beach Blvd and ordered lunch with a lunch margarita on the rocks. When it came it tasted like watered down limeade. I asked the young waiter if I could switch it out for a beer because I couldn’t drink the margarita, he told me they don’t return drinks, I asked for manager and it took 10 minutes to come to the table and as I was trying to explain about the drink he started telling me that I didn’t know what it should taste like. I have been to mexico many times and eat at various Mexican restaurants, all I asked was to replace a bad drink. I will never go to this restaurant again and will let everyone know not to go to it also. Score this a zero.
El Rodeo– fantastic food, service, friendly service!. Been going to El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant in Norfolk, VA for many years. It is hands down the most delicious Mexican food! Always fresh, super fast, and attentive/friendly staff! The sizzling Texanna Fajitas for Two is enormous with large shrimp, steak, chicken, bell peppers/onions, refried beans, rice and all the toppings is to die for! Great Flan (dessert) and coctails too! You will not be disappointed.
Found this place by accident looking for a different Mexican restaurant. Not bad. The chicken quesadilla was tasty. The chips and salsa plus a creamy dip was very good. The sangria had no fruit in it. Like drinking a glass of plain old red wine. The flan was pretty good. I’d say the flan and the salsa and creamy dip were the best parts of the meal. It’s a small restaurant with 3 TVs (I’ll never understand TVs in restaurants).
Great experience. I went to this restaurant today with my girlfriend, and was very pleasantly surprised. We were seated and waited on right away, and the wait for our food was short too. We were there for a grand total of 45 minutes. The wait staff works as a team to serve all of the customers, and they are all friendly and welcoming. To top off my already positive experience, the enchiladas I ordered were delicious and filling. A large amount of food for a very reasonable price and stellar service made this a restaurant I definitely plan to revisit.

Do not go! Food wasn’t very good and they don’t explain if a request will cost extra! I ordered guacamole as an addition to my meal, and they charged me an appetizer price for a litle bowl of guacamole. Then they didn’t apologize for not telling me or offer me a lower charge.
