Excellent and authentic Japanese restaurant.
Love!!!. This sushi place is awesome!! We moved here a couple years ago and stumbled apon this place, not impressed by the store front but we decided to try it anyway. We got to talking to one of the other costumer sand he knew the owners. He told us it is the only Japanese owned sushi place in virginia beach. It’s very authentic and very very yummy!!! We go here every time there is a craving for sushi!
Disappointing. Visited Kyushu on a Friday night. I had not been here in ages because it was always crowded. However the restaurant expanded in size earlier this year. The restaurant had few customers this night. This was a foreboding of things to come. Past reviews raved about the quality of the sashimi. Unfortunately for us it was a big let down. There was no yellowtail in their combo. If you want yellowtail you order it separately. the other sashimi did not look fresh, it was mushy and the servings were meager. On the other hand, the miso soup was very tasty and flavorful without it being salty. The staff was pleasant and somewhat helpful. I don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon.
Outstanding Sushi. The first thing you’ll notice about Kyushu is they’re in a strip mall. The second thing you’ll notice is how small the place is- it’s almost a hole in the wall, but most sushi lovers know that some of the best meals come from places like this. Don’t be intimidated if you have to wait- they have few tables and their sushi bar is small- it is absolutely worth the wait and worth the tight-fit. We’ve never had a bad meal at this place. The sushi ranges from basic rolls to inventive local rolls and the sashimi is incredible. One time, we sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef gave us some experimental pieces just because we were there- and they were incredible. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I’ve heard many people liken this to more traditional experiences in Japan.

The best sushi available. You will not find another place more authentic or tasty! They have a huge variety of options but the sushi is great. The place inside might be a little small for some, but the food should be why you go anyway. Try it out!
I have been looking for a good Japanese take out place for some time (I really don’t care for Chinese). Came across their website online and decided to give them a try. Their food is so awesome, I ordered the seafood katsu to go for lunch. The place was packed, but my order was ready. I didn’t realize how much came with my meal, I got 3 or 4 shrimp, 4 pieces of fish, 2 scallops (wish I had gotten more of these they were super yummy), and a few pieces of fried crabmeat. This all came with a salad and 2 spinach wontons (which were surprisingly tasty). The only thing I feel the need to point out is that they only take credit on orders over either $10 or $15 I can’t remember which. All in all, I would highly recommend this place to others. I would like to try dining in next.
