I suppose, by the feeling I’m getting from the other reviews before me, that if I was to have ever dined in, I would probably be giving a completely different review. Bad service. Wilted lettuce. Etc. However, I’ve always ordered in, and the delivery service is great. There was this new guy, who, for some reason drove way out to Virginia Beach (even though this location only caters to Norfolk; and he called to verify my address before making the trip), and of course the food was delivered cold. I didn’t make a fuss about it. The guy was very apologetic, and this wasn’t the norm for Sal’s. I just popped my pizza into the oven and I was good. He must’ve quit or was let go because I haven’t seen his face since. At any rate, I have never tried their salad, and the food is usually delivered fresh and hot. The food is prepped to order so I’ve come to expect the 45 minutes to an hour delivery time by now. So far I’ve tried their Cheese & Deluxe pizzas, the Fried 3 Cheese Ravioli, Deluxe Stromboli, and the Sausage and Peppers entree. I’ve visited New York once, several years back, and the one thing that stayed with me was the great food, served straight out of some charming hole in the walls along a strip. I had the best gyros, pizza, and spaghetti -n- meatballs I’d ever had in my life! Sal’s does an outstanding job bringing all of those wonderful flavors here to Virginia. My taste buds thank me with every bite! Sometimes the toppings from the Deluxe pizza be loose, and I love this. Because then I can just take a slice (they’re huge!), and dump the mozzarella cheese, the sausage and the peppers right on top of the fried ravioli. All those wonderful flavors, the melted cheese, the juice from the sausage and peppers, clinging to the crunchy crust of the fried ravioli, melding together as divine and sin! & Of course, those flavors lingered behind on my pizza crust, too. Hey, no crust left un-eaten! So delicious!
