I have a love and hate relationship with Judy’s. First, I love the food. It’s always delicious and the portions are easily shareable. I ordered a lunch special today and the portion size is definitely smaller than it usually is, but the food is still good. Now, for the reason I now go to Peter Chang’s instead: Judy is not polite to everyone. She’s hot and cold. She used to love seeing us come in and one day no more hello, no more smiles, nothing. She didn’t even open her mouth when we checked out (completely silent). The service in this place has always been spotty, but the food made up for it. Now, it’s unpleasant. Thank goodness Peter Chang’s is moving in right down the street.
Very BAD! Go to Peter Changs.. Did not like anything! Takeout order was wrong. Noodles tasted like a bucket of salt. Rice was bland. Chicken was not what we ordered. Owner refused to refund.
Better than NYC Chinatown!. I grew up in the northeast, where Chinese food is everywhere, and the majority of it is really good. Judy’s Sichuan isn’t good, it’s great! The food was very fresh, the flavors are on the verge of intense (not meh like so many local chinese restaurants), and you can tell that each dish is prepared the way it was meant to be, instead of everything thrown into the same wok as everything else and stir-fried. Each dish we had was better than the next! The one thing I would advise to the average diner – be prepared for heat! I ordered the Sichuan Style Spicy Cold Noodles expecting it to be similar to Sesame Noodles so popular up north, but it was quite a bit different. It was incredibly (hot) spicy! Almost too hot to eat, but it tasted so good, we ate quite a bit of it! Next time I will ask if they can tone down the heat a little…
Ordered take out today from here and this place is awesome! The food was ready quickly and the staff was so helpful and friendly. I ordered the scallion pancake, soup dumplings, potstickers, and the pork and pickles noodles. Everything was delicious, even after traveling home in take out containers. It was fresh, tasty, and not over spiced (ie too salty). High quality Chinese food. I can’t wait to come back on a date night and try more things from the menu.
Nice restaurant and fresh ingredients, and definitely not the American fast food Chinese fare served in most places. The reviews and rating here did give me high expectations for taste though so I was disappointed. I don’t want to write negative reviews but want to provide information for people looking for the best tasting food…oh that sounds mean so let me just say that I’ve eaten Chinese food (Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese) all my life and I am still searching for a favorite place in Virginia. I did like a dim sum place but can’t remember the name offhand. The prices at Judy’s are high and the quantity makes up for it so don’t let that dissuade you. I went with my family and ate Chinese style, sharing the following dishes: Xiao long nap, chicken lettuce wraps, sauted green beans, ma po tofu, chicken fried rice, pan fried noodles with chicken and vegetables, and beef on sizzling platter. The staff was friendly and we did have an enjoyable evening. I’m giving a thumbs down since I won’t be back and after all those dishes, there was none that we loved here. Hope this helps someone since it wasn’t meant to bash this place.
Rachel. This place is amazing. My boyfriend go there all the time and are consistently blown away. The people who own it are obviously very passionate about what they do. Everything is fresh, homemade and obvioulsy made with love. No corners are cut and you get quite a but of food for what you pay for. I would highly recommend this place (especially the soup dumplings).
