I started eating here when they first opened and the food was excellent. Since then they have expanded and the last few times, the quality of the dishes was just ok. The prices are a little high for Italian but I’m willing to pay that if the food is good but that just has not been the case as of late. With the exception of their crab soup which in my opinion has always been and continues to be the best in Hampton Roads.
This place is amazing. If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor stop reading and book a table.

Did we eat at the same place!?!?! HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!. I was so excited to try Mannino’s, I had heard all the wonderful reviews and couldn’t wait to go!! The crab soup wasn’t anything to write home about. It was full of crab, but was bland, lacked substance and had shell in almost every bite. I had the fried oysters, they were soggy and had no flavor. My boyfriend had the veal and portobello stack. It didn’t have any prosciutto, the veal was wet, the cheese was rubbery, and the marinara was watery. My side order of spaghetti had sauce so watery that it looked like tomato water rather than sauce. It was as if they poured the water out of a can of tomatoes and poured it over the pasta. The only thing you could pick out on the palate was the copious amounts of salt they used. I would not return, I even threw the left overs away. I don’t know why ANYONE would rave about this place. Out of all of my travels, this ranks one of the lowest places I’ve been to. I’ve had frozen dinners taste better!! Our waiter was lack luster, but the other servers seemed on top of their game. He may have been new. I would give this place three thumbs down. Thank god for the wine we ordered, that was one of the only good things. We could only compliment the wine, bread, olive oil/vinegar mix for dipping, and the haricot vert. Sadly, that was the only highlight of the meal. We didn’t even eat half of the food on our plates. All the reviews on this place makes me wonder about the palates of the people in Hampton Roads & The Pilot. God only knows what these people are eating at home to think this food is actually great.
Good Italian Meals. Not the greatest atmosphere but the food is consistently delicious. It is a family favorite!
My first time at this place and I was very satisfied. I ordered the Veal, Portobella and eggplant Stack. And the fried oysters for my appetizer. So delicious! And food presentation is exceptional. Great service and reasonable price. I can’t wait to go back!
As always, you CANNOT go wrong with this place! Always a great wine list and great food! And the new bartender Lisa is awesome!
