  Service. Horrible! Super slow-wait staff said they were swamped. I didnt gcomehere to hear restaurant problems. Didnt see mgr at all.

  Great dinner experience. I was very happy with our experience at m and s over valentines day weekend. The iced tea at happy hour to the delicious dinner.

  But where’s the soul?. The McCormick & Schmick’s experience is well designed and well executed. The staff is friendly (well coached and scripted), the atmosphere is attractive and comfortable (designed to sell!) and the food is quite good (reliable, palate friendly, not so much flavor as to offend anyone). At the end you get a whopping bill — but your tummy is full and you knew it was coming, so what the heck. You get the sense that somewhere in the not too distant background there are shareholders who are happy, and after all, isn’t that what it’s all about? I’m guessing it was Schmick’s idea to serve the cocktail sauce in 1/2 oz aliquots and to charge $13.50 for fried bait, I mean calimari. But McCormick can reliably finish off a tasty plate of scallops or a Filet that will satisfy even the most unadventurous palate. If you are looking to take your chain dining experience to the next level or need a place to dine with the board, this is it. A proud member of the dining-industrial complex! Keep in mind, I liked it and I’ll probably go back the next time I need something reliable on Mother’s day. It is not a good value, but it’s not a bad restaurant.

  My girlfriend took me to this place for my 41st birthday. She made reservations, the waitstaff kissed my ass, the food was great and I waddled out of that place with a happy belly. There are times when you get what you pay for. It ain’t cheap but your going to have a good time. My only regret is not sitting in a booth with the privacy curtain. A rookie mistake. It won’t happen again. Enjoy!

  Rude manager ruins business dinner. My company usually organizes payment for these business dinners. There was a mix up: no big deal: you would think… Instead of asking me to step off to the side, the manager decides to confront me regarding payment right at the table in front of my clients. He even went as far as to suggest I may be using a stolen credit card! I paid, we left. I called the next day to complain and was basically told it wasn’t their fault. I will take my clients elsewhere in future.

  Terrible Service. Food was good…but when you pay premium prices for supposedly upper style restaurant, you expect the sevice level to accompany it. I’ve never had all 4 courses of an ordered meal appear on my table all within 5 minutes…about 1 minute apart. Even when I asked not to deliver entree for 15 mins, server had kitchen staff bring to my table 2 mins later…ruined my meal. Have heard others mention same type of poor service. M&S needs new mgmt who knows how to train their staff with proper serice in an upscale restaurant. Even though a chain, Capital Grill does it best with comparable prices….but you know they will take care of you properly…not sue if in Tidewater, but up and down east coast. I won’t be back here to M&S anytime soon.
