Desserts are delicious but the customer service is horrible! My mom asked a simple question to one of the ladies working there and she didn’t even acknowledge my mom! Simply rude and disappointing!
DISGUSTED AND DISAPPOINTED. Worst experience, hands down, was when we went to Red Ribbon located in KempS Virginia Beach, Va on June 30, 2012.. It’s a small chain filipino bakery/restaurant, it specialize in various kinds of Filipino sweets and baking goods. I was excited because red Riboon is quite popular when it comes to filipino food chain, plus I hadnt been to one since I was a kid and was really looking foward to their halo-halo. Soon as we got there my friends and I ordered (1) halo-halo and (1) mango smoothie. Not a very complicated order, well you would think. It was really busy when we got there, so we expect a long wait to get our order done. But after 45minutes of waiting, and we see other people who are getting their orers for the same food that we ordered, that is when things started to get ugly. About an hour after we had stepped foot in the resturant. I asked the cashier about our orer and why it was taking like more than an hour to fix it considering we only order 2 kinds. He said it is taking forever because it was busy. I understand that, buy when I see people who just walked in a couple of minutes ago and got their order, for the same thing that we ordered, that is not acceptable. I kept my cool, but after 15 more minutes of waiting (total of an hour 20 minutes of waiting) I finally gave up and asked for a refund. They were no apologies or anything to that effect. They are still refusing to acknowlege that they had screwed up. We were so fed up at this point, I took the refund money, but I pormised myelf that I will let the manager know, we would log complaints with the corporate and let everyone we know to NEVER patronize their location again. We were VERY disappointed with the service. It would be so great to be able to avoid places with bad service! I will take good service and ambience over amazing food any day. Because even if the food is superb, if I dont enjoy the experience, I will NEVER go back. If a place serves good food but the servers are amazing, I will ALWAYS go back. I will spread the word to every living person I know that if you want to have a nice FILIPINO FOOD – AVOID RED RIBBON most specially the one in Virginia Beach. Way to represent Filipino. It’s digusting and very unprofessional the way they handled business. And of course we asked ourselves why we are not moving up and be in corporate world, it’s because of this. You can’t even get a small food chain work properly!!!
If you are in the mood for halo halo, this is the place.
Not what I expected. When I think of Filipino food, I think of the homemade pancit and lumpia that everyone here knows about. Which is good. This place is really more of a bakery. The actual food items are limited (no adobo?) and look like fast-casual versions of the real stuff. I got a stew that tasted so bad I did not eat more than a bite. My friends’ food was equally bad. The cake was great and I would try that again. The lunch/dinner stuff was really terrible and that is saying a lot. I wanted to like this place but will gladly go down the street for some authentic food even if it is carry out only.
I went to Red Ribbon after driving by and seeing the sign for 9 cupcakes for $9.99. I was extremely disappointed in the cupcakes. They tasted like they were made from a box mix, were extremely dry, and the taste of all the flavors I tried were awful. After one bite of the cupcakes, my friends and I would spit it out and toss the rest of the cupcake away. I definitely will not be going to Red Ribbon again.
Affordable, good food. We had the dinuguan meal and arroz caldo with shiitake mushroom, which were both tasty and portions were just right. Each meal came with a soda and a slice of cake, which was great at less than ten bucks per person. We had delicious mango and purple yam cakes. Only thing I didn’t like was that the cakes had too much whipped cream. Steamed pork buns were great. Can’t compare to other Filipino food joints in the area because this was the only place we visited during our vacation. But for a quick foodie fix, Red Ribbon is great and the quality is consistent with RR in Manila. Will eat there again if I’m in the area.
What’s the hype all about?. Unfortunately, I think the hype was greater than the quality of the food. I went to R.R. with high hopes and to purchase some baked goods. To my dismay, I don’t think the majority of the bread is actually baked in-house! The mamon and ensemada I purchased appeared to have just been taken out of the fridge or freezer. How disappointing! I’d rather get my filipino bread fix from a local bakery that actually bakes their products in the shop. For a hot meal, I’ll pass Red Ribbon and go to Felito’s, Kapamilya, etc.
