This is our anniversary restaurant. You can’t go wrong getting a filet, and it MUST be medium rare; it will melt in your mouth. The best value is to get the deal in the front of the menu, which includes a salad, and a dessert, but you’re limited with your choices of side. I would add an extra side so you can get their sweet potato casserole… so sweet and savory, it’s almost a dessert by itself. Ambiance is always romantic.

I’ve eaten at Several Ruths Chris and this was my third visit to the one in Towne CenterThe food is consistently good, not great, just good. It’s overpriced for the quality. The short rib ravioli appetizer was average and mushyThe calamari was not in the top 10 I’ve hadI ordered the veal chop without butterIt was cooked perfectly, on a plate swimming in BUTTER!Service: there is a broad line between great service and over familiarity. Someone please give the wait staff here a lesson in that line of demarcation. I really don’t want to be buddies with the wait staff and don’t expect them to join me at the table. I was at the Bravos below the night before. Maybe the staff there could give the Ruths Chris guys some pointer (on good service and how to cook fried calamari)!

I was excited to visit this Ruth’s Chris, as I’ve been to their locations in Berlin, MD, Orlando, FL, and Estero, FL and had fabulous experiences at all of them. However, the VA Beach location was a bad experience from the start. I made a reservation for 7:45 and we weren’t seated until just after 8. The tables were INCREDIBLY close together in the room we were in-from what I could tell, there were two separate dining areas and while ours had a better ambience than the other I saw, I don’t want to be bumping elbows with the next table over a $400 dinner (granted, it would be much less expensive if not for the win selection, but even so.) At 9PMish, a couple was sat with a very small baby only two tables away who proceeded to cry throughout the remainder of our time there. I’ve been in plenty of less expensive fine dining establishments that don’t allow children under 6 after a certain hour-at this price point I don’t think I’m out of line expecting the same, especially so late. Service was decent, food was good as it always had been at Ruth’s Chris, but this location didn’t meet my expectations for a special evening. We won’t be returning, which I’m very sad to say given that the food is wonderful.

Delicious Filet Mignon. We dined here last Friday night for a much anticipated meal…I heard that you could not get a better steak anywhere. With our cocktails we started out with the calamari and the recommended crab stuffed mushrooms. They were both tasty and we quickly devoured them. We both ordered the filet mignon. Our waitress informed us that the sides were huge and could be shared so we ordered the au gratin potatoes and steamed asparagus to share. Our potatoes and asparagus were delivered to our table seconds before our filets did, but they were the wrong steaks. They appeared to be a couple of ribeyes. When we pointed this out, the server quickly agreed that these were the wrong steaks and left to right the wrong….while our sides sat there getting cold. A new server returned about 4 to 5 minutes later with our perfectly cooked hot filet mignons…but nothing was done about the cold sides. We probably should have said something, but we decided that there was no way they could get new hot sides to us while our steaks were still hot and figured we could continue doing this all night…hot steaks, cold sides; cold steaks, hot sides, etcetera…The filet mignon was pretty fabulous…cooked to perfection. You could cut it with a fork and the seasoning was nice. The asparagus would have been good had it been hot. The potatoes were al dente and cheesy and gooey (even at room temp)!!! For dessert we had the crme brulee….very nice. All in all it was a good meal, but for $200.00 it should have been stellar. There was nothing wrong with the service…the wait staff was capable and friendly. But if you are laying down that kind of money there should be no mistakes. We were fortunate that the majority of our bill was covered by a gift card. Had we paid the full amount out of pocket we might have complained. It was good food, great service, nice ambiance, but all in all, not a $200.00 experience.

Elegant looking interior. Beautiful clean bathrooms eventhough it was packed when we went. Sadly to say the food was just ok. Did not like lyonnaise potatoes. My lamb was ok. Spinach to runny. I expected a lot more. I’ll try again on a slower night. Customer service was awesome( couldn’t help but to tip my waiter very well)

Ate here last new year’s and won’t go back. My wife ordered a petite filet medium well because she was pregnant and it had a large piece of gristle running through it. Filet should never have that. They brought another one almost an hour later after the table of 8 next to us that sat down after us was mostly done with dinner. Steaks had zero flvor. After a 2 hour ordwal which included rotten salad to start, the manager didnt even offer us a free appetizer or salad. Will never go back. The 8oz camambert stuffed filet at sonoma was a thousand times better; tender, flavorful and way cheaper. For a place with such an established name the vb location isnt worth the visit.
