Great little local joint! Basic menu, but always delicious. I really like the fact that after coming in once or twice, they know you and greet you like old friends. The owner will even sit and have a chat for a few. As a little bonus/side note…if you pay in cash, you get a little discount.

Nice little place. I finally made it into Shelton’s last Saturday afternoon. I have to say it wasn’t my first choice but I’m glad I had a chance to check them out. What I really wanted was a breakfast skillet like you can’t believe. I love fried eggs on top of some home fries with some cheese in between… maybe some bacon crushed up in there or some sausage.. (getting hungry yet?).After parking on a stool at the counter I had unfortunately arrived at 12:15pm and they had just stopped serving breakfast at noon. So lesson learned, Shelton’s does not serve breakfast all day long. It was officially lunch time. So I ordered a burger. The place was pretty busy however I didn’t wait to long for the burger. It came out on a basket completely wrapped in paper with a pile of shoestring fries on the side. The burger was good, but it wasn’t life changing either. There was some interesting banter as the guy cooking who I can only assume was Shelton was talking with the staff and some of who I assume were regulars. All in all it was a decent meal, price came in around $8 bucks. I’ll check them out again when I can get in early enough for breakfast.

Holla! I discovered this…. Holla! I discovered this spot when I moved the the Aragona area last March. My visits there have always been great with really nice welcoming staff. From the owner Ralph, to Sue (hurry back, feel better) my Redskins souls fan Mike to Dusty. I appreciate you all! The food has always been really good, and my mom loved the hamburger I grabbed to go for her today at your spot! Moms happy, I’m happy ! I look forward to the new specials on Thursday & Friday nights !! Glad you decided to open up at dinner time again for us ! See you again very soon!!! Ginger

Great food, great people. Love the burgers, and the breakfast is AWESOME. The staff has always made me really feel welcome. I just wish it was a little bigger AND I would love it if they had fresh cut fries. 😉 I’ve had the chili, burgers, bbq, breakfast, all of it was delicious.

DEEEEELICIOUS burgers!. I have eaten here several times, and I wish I could say that ALL of the food is good, but I can’t because I always end up getting a cheeseburger because they’re so incredibly good! One of these times, I’ll have to branch out and get something different. I didn’t notice the decor, but then again, I don’t go for the decor and ambiance; I go for the ridiculously good burgers!

Reply to sophiesmom. I don’t know what time of day you were there but, it must have been after breakfast. I have never eaten there, except for the wonderful breakfast. So, I can only comment about what I know. Shelton’s Big Grill has the best breakfast cook in Hampton Roads. He always greets you and loves to talk football, if you want to. He also comes to the table and ask if everything is OK. I hope you will give Shelton’s Big Grill another chance, during breakfast hours. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Not sure who is writing these reviews. My experience was very disappointing. First of all, my daughter ordered lemonade, which was out. Apple juice? Nope. Water with lemon? Nope no lemons. Then I ordered the BBQ platter. This comes with your choice of two sides. The sides list had about 8 or 9 choices, but the surly waitress told us the only sides available were slaw and fries. So much for choice. The food was nothing special. And none of it seemed especially fresh or homemade as other reviews have said. My daughter’s fish and chips were better than average. My husband’s burger was okay but nowhere near the best in this area. (The chili on top was pretty good.) The BBQ tasted like it came from a plastic tub. The decor was weird. Leftover Halloween and Christmas decorations were accompanied by auto racing and beachy themes, along with one lone poster of a bar in Paris. The highlight was the very nice owner who came over and checked on us. He seems genuinely nice, and I hope he will hire some better wait staff and improve the menu and decor. I love family run businesses and would love to see him succeed. Having said that, I won’t be back until big changes occur.
