Hands down the most amazing experience and restaurant in all of Hampton Roads. This is a staple for my girlfriend and I. Met the owner when she was walking around greeting the customers. Hands down the best family owned place I have ever been and I have dined around the world. Not enough good things can be said about this wonderful gem sitting behind a neighborhood hidden in the Virginia Beach area.All of the food is cooked and seasoned to perfection, served at the perfect temperature to consume immediately, and I found out that most of the veggies are grown on site next door at the owners home. All the meata and seafood are local sourced, and the chef even randomly sends you things to try that he is making.The strawberry shortcake during the summer is flat out the best dessert ever as well.Everything here is perfect. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG HERE.

Ate there Saturday night 3/18/17, my wife had salmon I had flounder special. The bread was dry and appeared old, our meals were of the poorest I have ever had at an upscale restaurant. We got desert and the apple pie was ok the pecan was terrible dried out like it was left in oven way to long. Very disappointing for two people spending $129.
Haven’t been in 10 years. Used restaurant week as an excuse to re-try. First, it was packed. Second, staff out-numbered patrons. Service was flawless.Restaurant week menu is a six course tasting. Asparagus soup sublime. Both the beef carpaccio and shrimp perfect. Ceaser salad served with whole anchovy (yum). Fish and short rib both outstanding. Dessert worth the calories. In short perfect. Won’t be 10 years getting back
One of my favorite seafood places. In the nation! The Butterfly shrimp app. is Outstanding! The chef’s specials are always worth the experience!
First experience was amazing. I’ve lived in Hampton Roads for over 30 years and had always heard of Steinhilber’s, but never had a desire to try it. I went recently with my in-laws and was blown away at the quality of food that was being served there. The fried shrimp are absolutely incredible. I can’t stop thinking about how good it was. Obviously, the service was top notch.
The Perfect Dining Experience. If you are looking for a cozy atmosphere, high end dining and friendly service, this is the place to go. We dine here every Christmas with my children and it is something to look forward to. From the shrimp (a must!), to fish, to steak, and fresh veggies- we have yet to try something we didn’t like. The deserts are definitely to share and you will leave satisfied and content. The staff is welcoming, accommodating and quick to respond to your ever need. Children friendly, fabulous menu, friendly staff, amazing food- what more could you ask for?!
