The food is descent. I typically get the Hog Dog, which is reasonably priced. It’s a small little joint so not many seats especially on a busy night. I do believe the general pricing is a little more than it should be.

TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE AMOUNT OF FOOD YOU GET. Just average bbq and ribs were overcooked! Would not return since they have frozen fries and onion rings and the prices aren’t cheap.

Hog Dog!. I’ve had their pulled pork a few times and enjoyed it, but I’ve been on a hot dog quest lately. I had heard about the Hog Dog, and decided to risk it. This was quite an experience! The large hot dog was delicious (it could have used more bacon) and their pulled pork is fantastic! The cole slaw was fine, and my side of corn pudding was a throwback treat for me. I like that the sub roll it came in was grilled–a nice touch. Service was super friendly (take-out) and I enjoyed watching them make truly fresh, truly hand-squeezed limeade at the bar. The folks here clearly care about the quality of their offerings!

Shrimp Poboy. Great tasting, but a little hard to eat.

Some the best food I’ve ever had. They have the most tender ribs I’ve ever eaten.

Unbelievable lunch. This is not a place for a light lunch unless your idea of a light lunch is ice water. The food and service are excellent and the twist they put on their dishes and sides makes this a one of a kind gem in Richmond.

Best in Richmond. Hogshead is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. We go there at least 3 times a month and I’ve NEVER had anything that wasn’t amazing. You can see and taste that everything is fresh. My favorite is the spicy fried shrimp taco appetizer. You get 3 tacos with 3 sizeable, perfectly cooked shrimp on each taco, and everything else they put on the tacos is sublime together. I can only eat 2 of them so this is definitely an appetizer that eats like a meal. Also, the mac & cheese is the kind I wish my mama could make. It’s the best I’ve ever had (even home made by great southern cooks). I would also recommend the limeade, which they make fresh when you order it and serve in mason jars. It’s a great replacement for Bill’s BBQ limeade. The waitresses are great, especially when they are packed. They are still attentive when they are really busy. Even when we don’t get our regular waitress she still always stops by our table to see how we’ve been doing since our last visit. Hogshead is definitely a must-try of Richmond. Even if you’re not a BBQ person they have so much else to choose from. The prices are not bad, especially considering the quality of everything and the amount of food you get. There is always a wait at dinnertime but it’s well worth it.
