Won’t Survive without a Major Makeover. We went to Taj Express using a Groupon. It was a less than favorable experience.The restaurant is located right next door to a busy Indian/Pakistani restaurant. We went in during the height of lunch and the place was empty, save for the strange man sitting by himself with no food who stared at us the whole time. We ordered off of the lunch menu and the food was ok, but nothing near the standards that you can get at any one of Richmond’s established Indian restaurants. We had the lunch combo and the Chicken Tikka Masala was flavorfull, but not exceptional. They had advertised a buffet, but none was to be seen. Maybe it is only offered on the weekends.The pricing was fair, but the atmosphere is non-existent. I felt like I was in an old Subway! No real table service other than to bring us the food. They will not survive in the competative lunch market without a major change in direction.
