Scattered, smothered, covered, diced, topped, chunked, capped – If these words don’t mean anything to you, get down to Waffle House right away! Everything is cooked in vegetable (I hope) shortening – as it should be. Good, affordable breakfast spot. Open 24 hours.
Early breakfast magic. I have two daughters in the area; when I visit, I hit this joint for a 6am breakfast. I don’t think I’ve ever spent $10, and my favorite meal has been cheesy eggs and bacon, raisin bread toast, a big bowl of grits (just can’t find them in Jersey!) and a refillable cup of joe. Sit at the counter and pick up on any conversation — guns, hunting, fishing, pickup trucks, it’s so refreshing not to talk politics for a change!Oh, — They have ashtrays! I almost forgot what it’s like to have coffee and a cigarette after eating.
