Low Brow. Where to start? We sat in the restaurant portion, on the back patio. To get to it, one must walk through an uneven, narrow, and unlit alley. For people who are disabled (such as myself), this presents a problem. The patio was absolutely lovely, but the tables were old. This added to the ambiance and would have been fine if a tablecloth had been put down when the guests arrived. But that was not the case. So, since the napkins were paper and the table was old and a bit dingy, my napkin (which was sitting on the table when we arrived) was a bit dirty. We placed drink orders. No sprite, no sparkling water, etc. It finally came down to the question of what did they have. We ordered entrees. I ordered some sort of ravioli and a salad. I ordered blue cheese dressing. They didn’t have that. So I orderded thousand island. They didn’t have that. Again, it came down to the question of what they did have. Others in the party ordered entrees. They were out of certain entrees. Once again, it came down to a question of what they did have. My Coke came, not in a glass, but in a can (with a straw). My salad came, not before my dinner, but with it. The lettuce was wilted and discolored. Since the lettuce was way past it’s prime, the salad was inedible. And Heaven forbid they throw in some bread with the deal. The entree was very tasty, albeit only luke warm and a small portion. Then came dessert. One member of my party ordered something, but they were out of it. The second choice could be accommodated, but it would take 30 minutes to prepare. So yet again, it came down to the titillating question of what they might have on hand. I ordered the bread pudding. When it came, it had been microwaved, but that wasn’t even done properly. It was warm on one side, but the other side was cold. Apparently, they forgot to turn it half way through the microwaving process and didn’t leave it in long enough to boot. So, I got a dessert (meant to be served warm) that was in part stone cold, as if it had just come right out of the refrigerator. At dessert, one person in my party asked for coffee. No, they were finished serving coffee for the evening. Another asked for hot tea. No, they were finished serving hot tea. And the service? You guessed it. The server acted like he was doing us a favor by bringing the food and slamming it on the table. $145.00 (all inclusive) for 5 people? I would have expected more than the ambiance of the patio and the pretty flowers.
Unfortunately it was raining when I went, but I had an awesome chicken cesaer salad wrap. Good atmosphere and service.
Jane. Visiting from Main Line area of Philadelphia…this place is a gem. The food was delicious, the service was great and the Secret Garden outside dining was a delightful atmosphere. We enjoyed the hummus and stuffed pepadews (never had these before, but they are great), then moved on to the best ribs ever, steak w/ wedge salad and fruit cobbler and cannoli for dessert. All was fabulous, including sides. Oh…and they have beer and wine (I had wine w/ my steak, while my date had beer) what a find. I will def be back the next time I visit Leesburg.
