Un-anniversary Dinner. Great ambiance, not so great service. I had to edit this review because we decided to get the leftovers from the Romanelli alla vodka, mentioned below, and found the shrimp shells from those that had already been eaten had been packed up for us to take home. An added touch that was really unnecessary and a lot gross. The other dish we just left on the plate. It seems Aldos is relying on their reputation. We ordered the fish of the day, Barramundi which while it was nicely cooked was tasteless and swimming in a sea of olive oil. The asparagus was cooked beyond recognition. The dish included a pile of equally tasteless pasta. Dish sorely lacked seasoning. Wife had the Romanelli alla vodka which had the consistency of a store brand blue box mac and cheese. We decided to escape to another Italian restaurant and enjoyed an excellent cannoli and lemongello cheesecake.Post Script: The offer to remedy the bad experience appears to be just talk. About two weeks ago at the insistence of my wire, I called and talked to a manager who said he would take my comments with Deborah Kassir. Nothing heard.
Never disappointed. Drinks are awesome, esp. The pineapple infused vodka. I had the fish special and it was a well prepared meal that was very tasty. Their antipasto platter for two is generous and delicious.
Chicken arrabiata-sauce was very sweet, presliced chicken tasted weird. how can you mess up chicken? caesar salad-dressing out of a bottle and bland. manninos or isle of capri blow this place out of the water
All about the snobbery and less about the food.
Not good. Went there this evening. Ordered the Zucchini Frittata which was tough and greasy. The green was a dark green as if the squash were old – tasted old as well. Ordered Chicken Picatta which is my usual. The chicken looked manufactured – undercooked and my fork would not go through it – tough as leather – seemed microwaved and had no saute indication. Completely white/light pink & unappetizing – the knife barely went through it – usually it is succulently tender. Clearly their concern for quality has greatly diminished. My waiter was one I have seen before. Didn’t seem to really care about our experience – quick and on to the next – not authentic. A very kind waiter stepped in as the original did not have time to show concern. No accommodation was made. Ordered a Mozzarella appetizer and paid full price for all. The meal was over priced, under-served and quality well below it’s cost. This is no longer my favorite and my visiting business associates will go elsewhere.
The service is the best in Tidewater. The food is above average. The decor And ambience are 2nd to none. We love this place. Veal Chop!
Great Food. We were on vacation in Virginia Beach and saw your add for Aldo’s on the television, and made our next to Aldo’s. We were greeted by Robert, he was one of the best if not the best waiters we’ve ever had. He walked us through the different things we liked, the food was remarkable from the stacked eggplant, antipasto, the veal and steak dishes to your desserts. Everything was wonderful, we were in town for 8 nights and found ourselves at Aldo’s 3 times, it probably would have been more but we didn’t find out about you for 3-4 days.
