More than 15 years ago my husband and I found this lovely restaurant by mistake when we were expecting our first child. I was so sick and could not stomach anything during the pregnancy but we took a chance and decided to try the Coastal Grill. To our surprise, I was able to eat the entire dinner with delight. It was the most wonderful food I had ever tasted. It is and has been our favorite special place since then…we always get the same thing because we have never been able to find another restaurant that can comeclose to the salmon or scallops. The goat cheese is a great appetizer and the fall vegetables are the best. Whenever we have a special date night the Coastal Grill is our destination of choice!
This is only my second visit to costal, but I think I’m in love. Everything is excellent: the food, the place, and the people. All of the staff are super friendly and make you feel at home immediately. This is exactly the type of restaurant I aspire to own someday. I got an order of the steamed mussels to-go ($12.95) and was extremely impressed. They were ready exactly when they said they would be and they were all steamed open. This is quality control at its finest, not to mention it had to be packed in 2 to-go containers just to fit (also with 2 huge chunks of bread that’s absolutely perfect to sop up the extra liquid).It’s honestly enough food to feed at least 3 (refer to the picture I posted). Absolutely love Coastal Grill!
Enjoyed it…. First time visit for us… We ordered carry out (scallops, black bean soup, house salad and baked chicken). By the time we checked into Fort Story and unloaded our luggage, it was lukewarm… yet amazing. Went very well with Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio 2010… We will definitely be back…. Looking forward to it!
Best meal in VA Beach! The dishes are well conceived and executed perfectly! The grouper was amazing and you haven’t had soft shells until you have them here.
Do NOT waste your money. WALK AWAY! Service was okay, but the food is way overpriced and terrible. We got the NY strip and the pepper tuna. 1/3 of the strip was fat and it was oversalted. The tuna was bad quality and lacked creativity and any kind of appealing flavor. On both plates the potatoes were undercooked and were inundated with pointless garnishes (a jalapeo and olives? Please explain). Just to top off the terrible meal, we were overcharged for and already expensive and mediocre glass of wine. I would have rather eaten almost anywhere else, and can obviously say, I will not be returning. Worst 75 dollars I’ve ever spent on 2 dinners.
Wow!! Star quality!!. The food here goes above and beyond! And the amount you get for the price couldn’t be better. My fiance and I made reservations on opentable.com and it was quick and easy. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable granted we had never been there and asked a lot of questions. I had the scallops which were rich in flavor and super tasty. My fiance had the salmon. It had a terragon butter with mushrooms and capers and he said it was the best he ever had. We finished with a brownie that had homemade chocolate sauce! I’m so impressed. I’ll be recommending this to all my friends and we will DEFINITELY be back!
