Always a great time. After visiting Shogun for the first time for a casual night out with friends, I’ve started coming more frequently, and each visit has been excellent so far! The manager is super welcoming, the wait staff are incredibly friendly, the chefs are on top of their game–and have I mentioned the FOOD? Absolutely delicious does not even begin to describe the fried rice, the mouth-wateringly tender filet mignon, the nicely seared vegetables….I could go on and on. The sushi, too, is hands-down the best in the area, in terms of portions and quality. You really can’t go wrong here!
Warning: Dirty, greasy food, bad service, way over priced!!!. The place is dirty and the manager is rude! If the food was good wouldn’t mind, but it’s of a poor quality and overpriced; it’s 2-3x what you would pay. And to top it off the food is flavorless.
Best hibachi at the beach! I have tried numerous other hibachi restaurants in Virginia Beach and nothing compares. The hibachi portions are so huge that you’re almost guaranteed another meal. The sushi is fresh and the plating is always so unique and pretty. All the staff are incredibly helpful and seem happy to be at work. The mood at Shogun is absolutely fantastic. Sometimes on busy nights you may have to wait a little bit, but its totally worth it. Shogun is the only hibachi place for my family and me.
A special night out. I recently visited Shogun with some friends and family to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday, and I could not have chosen a better place. The service was excellent, drinks were lovely (highly recommend the Flaming Volcano if you’re feeling brave!), and the chef kept us well entertained for the night. At my request, the staff even came out to sing happy birthday (in English and Japanese!) and gave my daughter a pineapple boat and a picture to take home.And the food! OHH, the food. This is the place to fall in love with fried rice all over again. Forget those Chinese take-out restaurants with their mediocre fried rice–the fried rice here is so fresh and absolutely addictive. I also could not stop raving about the filet mignon and jumbo shrimp. My daughter kept trying to steal them off my plate! And to top it off, the portions were highly generous, and nearly everyone at our table had enough leftovers to last us for a while. Will definitely revisit at the next special occasion! 5 stars
My Favorite Place / Petey Rocks. I have been going to Shogun for years and years now, I always request Petey, he is the funniest, nicest and best chef there! However, if he is not available Ray is next in line! I have been meaning to write a review and havent gotten around to it, so here goes. I have been to other Hibachi style steak houses and they never make you feel as at home as Shogun does, sure they do the tricks,but its robotic and boring, while at Shogun it is truly a show and a fun time, Petey is dedicated to making you laugh and have a good time, not to mention the food is SO SO good, I love the shrimp and the ginger dressing is to die for, I always buy some extra and bring home with me. The decor is a little outdated, but nothing some paint wont fix, other than that the atmosphere is lovely and the staff is very on point! I not only would, but DO recommend Shogun all the time! Fun for girls Night out, Family Night, Birthdays for kids or adults!! Dont forget to ask for Petey or Ray!
