Stopped in here for Mother’s Day. Excellent food. Plenty of choices. Fast and great service. Highly recommend to anyone. May need to make reservations at peak times!
Can’t say anything about food since I didn’t get to eat. I stood at the door for almost 20 mins and no one acknowledged me so I left. I walked in and stood at the front. There were some guys behind me and someone (an older male that I believe was the owner) asked if they could help them. They said it was 2 and the gentleman asked if they had reservations. They said no. He said well let me see what I can find. He said you will have to be in the front because with restaurant week you would have needed reservations and it’s really busy. I interjected and stated well I do have reservations. He nodded at me and proceeded to seat them. I thought he was coming back, but he walked away and went to the back. He returned and again I thought he was coming back to me but this time he went behind the bar. I stood there for about 10 more minutes without him even looking my way (nor any of the waitstaff). I finally said that was enough and left out and only then did he look my way. Poor service and I’m glad that he saved me a few dollars. I don’t support businesses like this.
1st Class all the Way.. I made my first visit to Braise right after Bobby’s passing. I really didn’t know if the they were going to be open or not, however the plans to visit here had been in place for a couple of weeks ahead of time and it was pure coincidence that other events had happened. I know Bobby wasn’t with Braise any longer however his spirit and dishes were there for sure. The crowd was sparse and we decided to sit at the bar. It was a Tuesday night after all. We each had an appetizer and I selected the Emily’s Lumpia which comes with a house Duck Sauce while my friend had the She Crab Soup. The lumpia was good, but with the duck sauce it was absolutely delicious. For our entree’s I ordered the Seared Tuna with Wasabi Mashers and Baby Bok Choy. My date had one of the evenings specials which was a stuffed Rockfish dish. I think it was stuff with crab. I have to say that my tuna and mashers were excellent. Just absolutely excellent. The rockfish didn’t go over so well though. She thought it was over cooked and while she finished it I don’t think she’ll be trying it again. All in all it was a good experience for me. Excellent service, excellent food and a nice quiet evening, which god knows is just nice sometimes. I’m definitely going to be back to try out some more of the menu.
Sad to say, Bobby Huber is no longer there. The food is now terrible. The last meal I had there wasn’t fit to eat. Bobby was a genius and when he was there it was the best restaurant in Virginia Beach. Alas, no more… Can’t wait until Bobby reopens in a new venue. Braise is now an empty shell. Don’t waste your time or money.01 Mar, 2014Sad to say, Bobby Huber is no longer there. The food is now terrible. The last meal I had there wasn’t fit to eat. Great local spot. Seafood mac n cheese is a must try.
Lunch was a delight!. My friend and I stopped in for lunch today and were blown away! What a great little gem in the middle of a busy shopping plaza. The interior is modern and yet cozy and the menu leaves you wanting to somehow eat your way through everything. Our server knew every dish, every ingredient and more. I had the chicken salad sandwich and french fries (with their amazing homemade ketchup). I also decided to treat myself to a desert. It was a very tough choice. The list is amazing. Give Braise a try – you will be pleasantly surprised!
Yummy lunch. Lunch was great! Scallops were perfectly cooked, ginger/carrot soup was cold but the waitress reheated it for me. The chicken salad was amazing. The braised short ribs were tender but the sauce was a little too acidic. Overall the food was outstanding! The prices were very reasonable but our sever was preoccupied and forgot our orzo Mac and cheese. The food is worth the server gamble!
