I’m confused. I can’t figure out why there are so many glowing positive reviews for the food. These glowing reviews are what led me to try this place. Who doesn’t love a great breakfast spot?!?!This is not going to be a place that I’ll be returning to. It was a train wreck from minute one. We walked in the door and stood there waiting for someone to acknowledge us. When she finally did she said just find a seat. There was a gentleman sitting by the front door and 4 other tables occupied. We sat down perused the menus, looked around the room, watched some tv, and listened to the couple next to us getting mad about their wait. 15 min after we sat down someone came out to the couple next to us and said i’m sorry your food is almost done just 5 more minutes. (I have no idea how long they had been waiting.) The lady was fuming.10 min later ( yes by this point I’m timing it as it’s starting to get rediculous) I hear from the kitchen has anyone got that couple drinks? Or what do they want? Still they didnt come out . 5 min later food comes out to the couple. They had to ask for silverware because they were just going to drop off the food and disappear into the back. After we had been there 30 min we were finally asked for our drink order (are you getting something to drink?) (Nice :/ )There is a commotion at the couples table next to us. She is ticked, asks for the keys and storms off and slams the door on the way out. Her plate of food barely touched. He meanwhile stays & the waitress comes out when she hears the door. Asks him if he wants to get anything to go. Nope just the check. She walks to the kitchen and another table who has been sitting quietly sipping their drinks throws down some money and leaves. Apparently they didnt care for the wait either. Waitress returns to bring the check out to the guy who asks for it. Notices the other couple left and proceeds to ask if anyone even knows what they had ordered. I heard no, where is their check? I don’t know. (Yikes….)We should’ve just got up and left at this point but we already had money invested in this visit. We had purchased a living social deal to eat here. At around 40 min they finally take our order. The cook walks out the front door. About 8 or 9 min later the staff asks where he went? I dont know. How do you not know? He is your cook!He walks back in with eggs (10 min later?). He left to go to the grocery store. LolAt 1 hour after arriving he brings our food out. I wish i had taken a photo. Our food didn’t look like any of these pretty photos on here. There was this toast looking thing covering up what was supposed to be french toast. And parts of it were already cold. Which leads me to believe he made part of it before leaving to go to the store. I’m thinking ok it just looks ugly it will taste good I’m sure. Well the grits & bacon were great, and the eggs had a little bit of a weird flavor. But nothing could have prepared me for the toast and french toast. The flavor… ugh! It tasted like they had used the old grease from the grease trap instead of butter. It was soaked into the bread and the smell was horrible. The french toast was the same way. Remember the guy who was waiting by the front door? Yeah at this point they finally tell him his to go order was ready. It is now well over an hour after we had arrived. I can’t believe he waited. My stomach started getting queasy. I told my husband we have got to go i can’t handle this anymore. I’m starting to burp and just feeling gross. They tried to offer us pie or drinks (whiskey at noon anyone?) or something to go for our troubles. Yeah noI can’t make this stuff up. This was just too much for a place that all the reviews are talking it up and saying how good it is.We spent the rest of the day re-living that meal with indegestion and bowel troubles. We had ordered bagels to go. They were cooked in the same grease stuff. I promptly placed them in the trash.I will say this:Their place is cute. Very tastefully and artfully decorated. But whatever happened there that day with the service and food was a failure. I sincerely hope they were just having a bad day. But i doubt it. Even the staff didn’t seem like they were very experienced. If they can fix the staffing and food issue i think it could be a neat place for breakfast. As it stands based on my experience it is a huge thumbs down.
